Stallions 2019

November 2018

Dear Breeder

If we needed validation, Breeders’ Cup weekend was the final confirmation that Nathaniel is one of Europe’s leading stallions. His magnificent daughter Enable, secured her place as one of the great Champion race mares of all time. The first horse to win the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Turf in the same year, and a Gr.1 winner on seven of her last eight starts.

On the same weekend God Given became the second Gr.1 winner from Nathaniel’s first crop landing the Premio Lydia Tesio over ten furlongs. Like Enable, God Given has proved to be a remarkably consistent high-class performer winning a further three Group races, a Listed race and was placed in two more Group races.

Enable and God Given are the two stars of Nathaniel’s outstanding first crop, but his second crop has included Group winners Pilaster and Highgarden and Listed winners Amorella, Perfect Clarity and Sladina. His two Gr.1 winners, 11 Group performers and 10 black-type winners putting him up among the top five sires in Europe.

In addition, his two-year-olds from his third crop are headed by the Stakes performing colts Nate The Great and Floating Artist, and includes several promising maidens winners.

Our other Gr.1 sire, Equiano continues to be a consistent source of tough high-class sprinters, with The Tin Man winning his third Gr.1 race, Belvoir Bay having seven Group/Stakes wins to her name, and the Gr.2 two-year-old Medicine Jack adding black-type success to his CV in 2018. Equiano has sired 23 Group/Stakes winners and performers, eight in 2018, 17 of whom gained black-type as a two-year-old.

Equiano will stand for £6,000 and Nathaniel for £25,000, (both 1st October, Special Live Foal terms) in 2019. There can be few proven young stallions standing in Europe that offer better value and we look forward to hearing from you and helping you to breed the next Enable or The Tin Man.

Yours sincerely

History Maker!

The first horse ever to win the Arc and Breeders’ Cup in the same year

Newsells Park Stud is a 1,200 acre state-of-the-art commercial thoroughbred stud, originally established by the de Trafford family in 1926.

The stud was acquired by Jacobs Holdings AG in 2000 and the late Klaus J Jacobs developed the stud following the successful founding of Gestüt Fährhof in Germany by Walther J. Jacobs.

Today the stud owns 50 top class broodmares and by utilising the very best stallions aims to breed top quality thoroughbred racing prospects. The majority of the homebred stock is sold commercially as yearlings in the hope they will have highly successful careers on the racecourse.

In 2018 the stud has bred or raised four Gr.1 winners from sprinters through to milers and middle distance horses, with Lightning Spear, Waldgeist, Without Parole and The Tin Man. As well as Gr.2 winners Japan and Waldlied.

In the last seven years Newsells Park Stud has bred or raised 55 individual Group/Stakes winners, eight Gr.1 winners, eight Gr.2 winners and 14 Gr.3 winners, including 2015 European Champion Filly Legatissimo and 2011 UK Classic St Leger winner Masked Marvel.

Newsells Park Stud also now offers a ‘full boarding service’ right from conception through to yearling sales and into training. Horses raised by the stud for clients include Royal Ascot Gr.1 winner Without Parole for John and Tanya Gunther, and triple Gr.1 winning sprinter The Tin Man for Elizabeth Grundy.

Newsells Park Stud prepares and consigns both homebred and client owned yearlings at all the major European yearling sales. It has established a reputation as one of Europe’s leading sales consignors, supported by all the key buyers.

The stud has been the leading consignor at Tattersalls Book 1 October Yearling Sales three times in the last five years. In 2018 the stud set a new record with total receipts in Book 1 of over £11 million, including four yearlings realising over 1,000,000gns, and total receipts for all three Books of over £14 million.

This included the second highest priced yearling of 2018, the 3,400,000gns Galileo colt out of Shastye, also dam of exciting 2019 Classic prospect Japan, as well as Group winners Secret Gesture and Sir Isaac Newton, the 2013 European record auction price yearling colt at 3,600,000gns.

The stud also prepares and consigns bloodstock on behalf of their clients, and in 2018 the stud sold John and Tanya Gunther’s Galileo colt out of Posset for 1,100,000gns. In 2017, the stud sold the Danedream yearling by Dubawi for 1,500,000gns on behalf of Shadai Farm.

In respect of mares, Newsells Park Stud has consigned the 2,000,000gns and 1,100,000gns mares Hazariya and Birdwood, and also sold the dams of Gr.1 winners/performers Iridessa, Ivawood, Qemah and Sophie P. With foals, the stud has headed sessions in 2013 and 2014 with fillies out of Our Queen of Kings which realised 320,000gns and 300,000gns.

This success could only be achieved with the dedication and expertise of a knowledgable team at Newsells Park, many of whom have been with the stud for over ten years.
