Step 4: Before continuing on with this step, ensure there is a coax cable connected to the back of the console and that it is supplying a valid cable TV signal. Using the “TV Mode” button, configure the TV for DTV/ATV Cable. Using the “TV Type” button, configure the TV for QAM Standard. Select “Start Scan”.

Step 5: If a valid signal is being sent to the console, the scan will discover all valid channels. This may take a little while, depending on the cable package the customer has.

Step 6: If necessary, select the “Control Menu” button in the bottom right corner of the TV Tuner menu (seen in previous picture on Step 5) to enter into the Digital TV Configuration menu. Selecting the “Menu” button under “Digital TV Only” will bring up the options that are being sent to the TV via cable.

Step 7: In the “Digital TV Only Menu” under the Channel tab, you will see options for Auto Program, or Manual Program. You can use the Up, Down, Left, Right navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen to get to the options and the OK, or Exit buttons to select the option.

Step 8: The “Caption” menu contains information on setting up the close captioning options that are being delivered via digital cable. You can use the Up, Down, Left, Right navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen to get to the options and the OK, or Exit buttons to select the option.

Step 10: The “V-Chip” menu will allow you to set V-Chip options. The broadcast signal contains a special rating code, indicating the show’s score according to a simple numerical rating system for violence, sex, and language. The program’s signals are encoded to their rating and this is detected by the TV’s V-Chip. If the program rating is outside the level configured as acceptable on that particular television the program is blocked. The V-Chip does not block news or sports casts as this sort of programming does not have ratings. V-Chip has a 4 digit numerical pass code in order to keep children from changing its settings. **At this time, the V-Chip option in the console gives you the option to enter your 4 digit password, but there is no option or numeric keypad to enter this info.
