production process when producing in our

own works.

The process, which becomes especially

apparent with machinability, guarantees best

working results for the bright steel grades we

manufacture.

Stainless bright bars

Due to its inherent dimensional accuracy and

surface quality, stainless bright steel is nowadays

a preferential choice in the automotive industry

and for mechanical engineering purposes.

So as to meet the highest functionality

requirements, metal cutting or metal forming

is used to process stainless bright bars into

ready-to-fit precision parts.

In addition to rounds, piston rods, squares,

hexagons, flats and profiles made from stainless

bright bars, the SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH

product portfolio also includes stainless bright

wire which we supply as fine wire, bright wire,

extrusion wire, cold heading wire and spring

wire.

The stainless bright bars SCHMOLZ +BICKENBACH supplies are manufactured as

per EN 10088-3 /EN 10272. For details on

SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH commands one

of the most diverse stock ranges of stainless

welded beverage tubes, conduits, structural

and profile tubes available.

Our central and fully automated high-bay

warehouse in Düsseldorf has, for example,

more than 3,200 cassettes. Since every single

cassette can be partitioned into four, this gives

us the opportunity to stock several thousand

items and batches in the most diverse finishes.

Further cassette storage locations of this kind

are situated at our other branches, enabling

just-in-time deliveries – at regional level too.

To round up our extensive portfolio, we also

offer fixed lengths and grinding services.

The manufacturing of welded conduits and

beverage tubes from stainless steel has to

fulfil extremely high demands during the

production stage, especially as these kinds of

tubes are used for the transportation and

storage of corrosive, inflammable and toxic

fluids as well as gases and solids.

Quality and processing requirements made of

such special steels are especially high when the

tubes are used for hygienic applications such

as drinking water installations or equipment

employed in the food or pharmaceutical

industries.

Apart from the quality factor, product diversity

plays a decisive role and is of importance

everywhere where tubes fulfil structural or

decorative roles, such as in architecture or in

the furniture industry.

Processing of stainless steel long products

Among other products, we manufacture shafts

and axles for processing by the final customer

in the automotive industry, which are achieved

by cutting and deburring, or through complex

end machining such as facing, chamfering and

centering.

We offer customized processing in the areas

of bevelling, drilling, deburring, chamfering,

milling, facing, polishing, cutting, peeling,

grinding and centering.

Processing of stainless steel flat products

Our surface treatment of sheets up to 1500 mm

x 4000 mm comprises grinding (grit sizes 80,

180, 240, 320 or 400), brushing, combined

grinding and brushing (i.e. 'Duplo') and foiling

with every usual type of foil.

We cut and bend sheet up to thicknesses of

15 mm and to maximum lengths of 6000 mm.

Our bending press enables us to process flat

material into U, C and Z profiles. Custom profiles

are manufactured to customer drawings.

Flat material up to thicknesses of 15 mm and

widths of 250 mm can be processed on our

straightening unit.

We plasma-cut parts with maximum dimensions

of 3000 mm x 14000 mm and to a maximum

thickness of 50 mm using under-water

technology.

Any type of processing, such as drilling, milling

and laser and water jet cutting techniques can

additionally be offered as special treatment. In

particular with slitting we are in a position to meet

virtually any requirement that is technically feasible.

Processing of stainless steel tubes

With our fixed length service, which uses

the most modern saws, we can manufacture

any length required for round, square and

rectangular tubes at short notice.

We miter cut according to your drawings for

round, square and rectangular tubes.

On our polishing facilities round, square and

rectangular tubes can be ground from grit

sizes between 80 and 600.

Our polishing service enables tubes to be

finished in either polished or mirror-polished

condition.

So as to manufacture complex shapes, our

automated hydroforming plant facilitates internal

high-pressure metal forming (preforming, bending,

laser cutting, cutting to size and washing).

Processing service center

SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH is not only foremost

in the production and storage of stainless

steel – but time after time sets standards in the

quality of the services provided.

With the employment of state-of-the-art facilities,

our processing centres enable us to realize

We employ the following analytical methodology

and equipment:

carbon sulphur (C/S) analyzer

chemical analyses by means of emission

spectrometry – both stationary and mobile

strength and toughness testing, applying

tensile and notched-bar impact tests at high

and low temperatures

Vickers, Brinell and Rockwell hardness

testing as well as microhardness testing

magnetic property measurement including

hysteresis

microstructure analysis, purity determination

and grain size measurements by means of

micro-sectional analysis

determination of inner material flaws using

ultrasonic testing

determination of outer material flaws by

means of magnaflux and eddy current testing

roughness testing

Using SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH materials

engineering, we can re-assure our clients of a

very reliable platform for customized and highly

qualitative steel and aluminium solutions.

Our technicians’ know-how guarantees that our

clients’ special requirements are fully understood,

enabling us to place the very best steel at their
