IntroductionThis is a follow up on my previous slide shares. This

slide share will be a summary on all the simulations done for my thesis.

The other slide shares can be found here:http://tiny.cc/bihpj

EMS Strategies The three Energy Management Strategies are:

Dynamic Programming (DP)

ECMS

Range Extender (RE)

Vehicle used is a Hytruck

Driving cycles used are CSC and Je05

Configurations used:

CSC: Fuel Cell: 45 kW, Battery: 60 kW

Je05: Fuel Cell: 55 kW, Battery: 55 kW

Configurations were most fuel efficient for the cycle

Results The battery energy content was maintained during

every simulation

The ECMS results on the Je05 is lower , likely caused by the nature of the Je05 cycle as this happens in other vehicle configurations as well.

Results - discussion ECMS provides results that approach DP, though

ECMS can be applied online

The Range Extender is a lot easier to implement (set at a fixed, right chosen power level), but comes at a higher fuel cost

Measurements only done for Range Extender EMS, due to technical difficulties it was not possible to control the fuel cell power dynamically enough to do the DP and ECMS settings on the test rig

Future / RecommendationsNext:

Finalize report

Recommendations:

Increase level of control on the exact power of the fuel cell (enabling DP / ECMS measurements)

Increase measurement/estimation on the energy content of the battery to verify battery status after measurement
