Learning Guide organised by Matthew and his supervising teacher for 3/4

Note to Students & Families

You will need access to a digital device and some start-up help from a parent/carer to complete the following activities. The timetable follows a range of both online and offline choices and options. This guide should be used flexibly at home. We have provided suggested times for activities as well as the times when your teacher will be online each day and available to support students at home. Even if you can’t be online at that time, you can always leave questions for your teacher in your Google Classroom.

Digital Device Access

For the activities provided that include links or online elements, our timetable has them split up throughout the day. If you are sharing devices with siblings or other family members, you could adapt the timetable so that the online elements are done at one time of the day and the offline elements completed at other times.

Using what you have at home

We understand that everyone’s home is different. Some of you have Lego at home. Some of you have a full artist studio of equipment and supplies ready to create your next masterpiece. Any suggested activities will have everything you need to complete them or need some everyday household items. If you can’t complete an activity because you do not have the equipment, that’s OK. Let your teacher know in your Google Classroom so they can suggest an alternative.

Learning Space

You may like to choose the space where you are learning at home. You can choose to sit where you feel comfortable to do your learning. This may be your bed or lying on the floor or at the table.

Time for play

Our suggested timetable includes breaks and time for you to play. Playing is really important to your learning. The imaginative games that you play are fun, engaging and help you to have some independent time and be in charge of your own actions.

Following your interests

What you enjoy doing at home varies too. Some of you enjoy cooking with your family, others enjoy gardening, or reading or drawing or playing sports or a combination of a whole bunch of different things. Using your time at home to continue with your own hobbies and interests is important and will help you be in charge of your own learning.

PLEASE NOTE: There are more activities in the Learning Guide than most students will get through in a day. Do not stress if you can’t get through it all! Aim to complete a few different activities each day, but don’t overload yourself. Make sure you take breaks and play/ get active/ read/ draw/ sing/ practice music/ etc.
