About this Project: The Pacific Sea Turtle Project is a conservation

initiative undertaken to protect endangered sea turtles and their

nests, and improve the chance for survival of hatchlings on Matapalo

Beach. Using man-made turtle hatcheries (called 'viveros') to

protect turtle eggs and joining in vigilant beach patrols, volunteers

provide vital resources and support.

About this Project: The project at this technical high school provides students with practical skills in the

newer Planeterra-supported projects in the region is the

recycling program, which not only separates plastic, cans and glass

but transforms manure into organic fertilizer to be used in the project’s

About this Project: Located in Tortuguero on the coast of Costa Rica, the Caribbean Sea Turtle

Conservation project studies turtles nesting on unprotected beaches. The globally endangered green,

leatherback, hawksbill and loggerhead sea turtles come ashore to nest on beaches accessible from the station.

Volunteers will take part in night patrols and will assist in tagging and data collection. There are no roads in the area, and visitors to Caño Palma arrive by boat via a

network of rivers and canals.

About this Project: This project brings art and culture alive for children who would otherwise

never have the chance to experience this type of education. A unique and well run program, it includes activities as diverse as gymnastics, dance, theatre and

Thailand and lend a hand at local conservation projects in the region.

The Elephant Conservation project aims to provide shelter and protection for elephants in distress from all over the Kingdom. The project is supported by volunteers from

around the world and financed largely by the private sector. Set in a valley surrounded by

forested mountains, the park offers a peaceful home for its residents—over 30

neglected and abused elephants. Instead of working for humans, the elephants are cared

7 DaysThe Rescue Center cares for confiscated animals from the illegal wildlife trade and repatriates them back into the wild. Working alongside the Project's staff, you will be involved in the day-

to-day care of Primates, Pangolins, Otters, Chinese Water Dragons, Bengal Water Monitor Lizards and Turtles. Tasks include helping to prepare their meals, changing foliage in

enclosures, and general maintenance.

About this Project: Founded in 2003, the Cu Chi Rescue Station is dedicated to protecting the biodiversity of Vietnam by combating the

illegal wildlife trade and promoting the conservation of endangered species and their

habitats. It acts as a reserve for wildlife confiscated from illegal traders and hunters, returning rehabilitated animals to the wild

and educating visitors about wildlife conservation.

Lend a hand at pre-schools and primary schools on the coast outside of Cape Town. Spend time with over 35 children between 2 and 6 years at a pre-school and support teachers at a primary

About this Project: Township schools on the outskirts of Cape Town are

often ill-equipped and the facilities in need of refreshing. As a volunteer,

you’ll assist teachers at a pre-school built from shipping containers which have been converted into brightly

that communities bordering the conservation area are involved in the initiative in order to foster support for

wildlife conservation.
