SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 11 and FEBRUARY 12, 2017

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

LOOKING AHEAD: LENT BEGINS ON ASH WEDNES-DAY, MARCH 1ST, and the following are some impor tant reminders as we prepare for our journey to Calvary. …………………………………………………………………. LENTEN REGULATIONS CONCERNING FASTING AND ABSTINENCE —Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the most important penitential days of the liturgical year. They are both days of fast and abstinence. The rule of abstinence binds all Catholics 14 years and older. Fasting means only one full meal per day should be taken. Eating between meals breaks the fast but drinking liquids does not. The rule of fast-ing binds people between the ages of 18 to 59. Abstinence means refraining from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent. …………………………………………………………………. CONSIDERING WHAT TO DO TO ENHANCE YOUR LENTEN JOURNEY? St. William is again hosting the Ecumenical Lenten Luncheons at Noon on Wednesdays during Lent starting March 8th. Each Wednesday, clergy from differ-ent Churches in the area will conduct the service which will be followed by a light Lenten luncheon. The programs always prove insightful and interesting, and it is a great opportunity to meet people from our Community.……………………………………….……………………..…. OPERATION RICE BOWL is a Lenten based “faith in ac-tion” program sponsored by Catholic Relief Services through-out the United States benefiting such world wide programs as mother and child health and nutritional programs, agricultural programs and other important benefits to needy around the globe. 75% of the money collected goes towards these im-portant assistance programs, and 25% of funds collected return to us right here in our community. Both of our Parishes have benefited from these “Rice Bowl Grants” in the past. Lent is all about prayer, fasting and almsgiving, and our personal journey with Jesus to Calvary. ………………………………………………………………….

…………………………………………………………………. GRIEVING, HURTING, SUFFERING THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE. Please join us February 16th at 10AM at the Seiglie Center on the St. William Campus. The group will con-tinue to meet every Thursday for the next 5 weeks. Please con-tact Mark March for more information at: 940-452-8548.

AT EVERY MASS both weekend and weekday, you see your fellow parishioners serving our Lord and our parish as Aco-lytes, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Set-Up Coordinators, Ushers and Greeters and Emergency Response Team members. Most of them have been serving like this for many years. We want to say “ Thank You” to all of them for their service. We greatly appreciate what they have done for our church. How-ever, the number of volunteers barely covers the need. This means the same people are asked to serve often. We NEED your help. If you have any questions or interest in one of these roles, please contact AJ Borowski at 386-864-0995 or email at [email protected]. …………………………………………………………………..
