St. Thomas School AuctionMarch 17, 2018 – 6:00 p.m.
The Fairmont Olympic HotelSeattle
WelcomeDear Parents and Friends of St. Thomas School,
This evening’s success is the result of an amazing collaborative effort of many parents in our community who have given of their time, creativity, and generous spirit. We would like to extend our deep appreciation to this year’s Co-Chairs, Tyler Core, Piper Hanson, and Erin Raney, for their wonderful leadership.
The funds raised tonight directly benefit our students by supporting our operating budget, including faculty salaries, student financial aid, and classroom equipment and supplies. Tonight’s Raise-the-Paddle will fund all of our programs that promote Leadership, Presentation, and Performance. Every child, from 2-Day Preschool through 8th Grade, will benefit from your generosity this evening.
This has been an amazing year for St. Thomas School. We believe educational excellence stems from the development of character and core academic skills. These cornerstones form the foundation on which the school was built and continue as the basis of our educational program today.
On behalf of our entire community of outstanding students, thank you for your participation and support. Enjoy your evening!
Kirk M. Wheeler, Ed.D. Glyn NordstromHead of School Board of Trustees, President
A Toast to ExcellenceDear Families and Friends,
Welcome to the St. Thomas School Auction, A Toast to Excellence! We’re so excited you’re here tonight for what promises to be a wonderful evening.
Tonight we raise money to support our school and everything that makes it excellent. We feel lucky, blessed, and honored to be a part of this community. By contributing tonight, we enable the faculty and staff to continue to provide not only the highest level of academic education for our children, but also ensure that our children’s school experience is inspiring, motivating and enriching for all aspects of their growth and development.
Thank you to the incredible St. Thomas School staff who have worked tirelessly to make this evening happen, including a very special thank you to Leila Thomas, Barbara Anderson and Brittany Brown. We want to extend our special gratitude to Catherine Nielsen for helping transform the Spanish Ballroom to fit our theme, and to Charles Core for his time and talent, ensuring our Raise-the-Paddle video is unforgettable.
We toast you, our St. Thomas School community, and wish you all a wonderful evening. Thank you for your support!

Raise-the-PaddleEach year at our Auction, we raise our bid cards to support a particular area of the school during our “Raise-the-Paddle.” This year’s focus is on Leadership, Presentation, and Performance.
Fundamental aspects of St. Thomas School’s leadership curriculum are the ability to present and perform. Stage presence, confidence, and the ability to connect with an audience are important leadership skills. It is critically important to offer multiple opportunities throughout a child’s educational journey to strengthen these skills.
Funds raised tonight during our Raise-the-Paddle will support many aspects of leadership curriculum, including the purchase of risers which can be used in the Church, in the Great Hall at Ebsworth Center, in the Commons, and in our new building when it’s completed. During choral performances, these risers will provide students with a better view of the conductor and accompanist(s). In addition, parents and friends will be able to see and hear their student(s) much better.
Until our new building is completed, we need facilities that can accommodate our growing number of families for our Christmas Program, and other performances. Funds raised tonight will support the costs associated with next year’s Christmas Program being held off-site, as well as this year’s Middle School Musical, Beauty & the Beast. This will allow all of our families to have the opportunity to enjoy these very special evenings.
