Over £1 billion is currently being invested in the City and its immediate catchment including;

£25m investment by Hilton creating a ‘Double Tree’ 165 bed hotel which will open on the 14th

November 2017 next to St. Stephens. It will include a Marco Pierre White 5* restaurant and a 1,000

sqm ballroom capable of accommodating up to 500 people.

£310m offshore wind turbine manufacturing plant by Siemens and a £200m biomass plant by

the Spencer group

£100m Research and Development Centre for Reckitt & Benckiser

£190m maintenance centre by Dong Energy to cater for the wind farm industry

£106m investment by Hull City Council in various initiatives including the creation of a 3,500 seat

Unemployment in the City has fallen by over 40% in the last 9 years from 16,000 in 2009 to

9,000 in 2015; the fastest fall in any UK City.

Hotel occupancy is also up 14% in Quarter 1 of 2017 (compared to 2016) and Hull trains has

reported a 17% increase in passenger numbers (over the same period) compared to 4% nationally.
