Pastor’s Column

On Saturday, November 11, we celebrate Veterans Day. This weekend we honor

the living men and women who have served our country in the armed forces.

They have put their lives on the line for us to enjoy the freedoms we cherish.

These freedoms are that of liberty and justice for all, which include freedom of

speech and practice of our religious beliefs. We take these freedoms for granted.

The Veterans have fought to defend them. They have fought in the World Wars I

& II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Iraq, Iran and other places in the world. They

did not think twice if they would lose their lives as they just fought to defend our

country.

This weekend we need to step back and take time to honor these men and women

who served our country. We should say thank you to all of them. We do this by

attending patriotic ceremonies, praying for them. If we know a veteran personally

we should thank them for their service.

We should monitor legislation that affects their benefits, because they are an easy

budget cut. They deserve these benefits, so let us make sure they receive their just

reward.

God Bless and protect them, Fr. Rich Congratulations to Vince & Anne DeStefano on their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were honored at the Diocesan Mass on November 5th at the Cathedral. Wishing them many more years of Health & Blessing.
