- We Exist To Bring Our Catholic Faith To Life -

Principal Headliner – September 2016

“St. Teresa of Calcutta, Kneeling” Artist: D. Paulos

A year ago, we were welcoming Pope Francis to our American shores…we were all abuzz with the expectations of his

Meeting of Families. So much was accomplished during his visit then; so many Catholics and non-Catholics alike, were

attracted to this man of God, this compassionate leader and holy presence in our midst.

This year we celebrate the Canonization of a new Saint; we celebrate and honor Blessed Teresa of Calcutta (Mother

Teresa) whose canonization marks a new Feast Day, on Sunday, September 5, 2016 as St. Teresa of Calcutta.

During our Morning Assemblies during this week, quotes from Mother Teresa have been shared. Our children and

staff have been asked to consider how they can live these words as Blessed Teresa did in her life. Perhaps you will talk

more about her with your children; perhaps you as a family can honor our newest saint by praying for her intersession with

God on your behalf. She was a tireless servant of the poor and forgotten, and her humanitarian efforts received world-

wide attention for the least of these.

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless.”

“I alone cannot change the world but I CAN cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.”

“Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”

“The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway.”

“Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.”

…Mother Theresa…

News From The Principal’s Desk:

Safety Loop Update: St. Rose School Arrival and Dismissal LOOP

This is our Student Safety Traffic Plan … the LOOP… The LOOP is designed to keep our children and our carpools safe during arrival and dismissal AND to be good neighbors as we traffic through our neighborhood. Morning LOOP opens at 7:35AM for your convenience. At dismissal time, LOOPing around in the front parking lot AND double lanes in the back lot, bring more cars off the street earlier. Please be patient, kind, and cooperative with our LOOP procedures…and for this we thank you, parents, grandparents, carpool drivers, and older brothers and sisters with new driver’s licenses!! ALL Families use the LOOP for arrival and dismissal. If you have business to conduct in the school office, please drop off or pick up your students in the LOOP first, then come to the office for whatever you need. LOOP PROTOCOL:

7:35AM – Morning Loop Gate Opens (Final Bell – 8:00AM – for Morning Assembly) 2:40PM – Dismissal Loop Gate Opens (Dismissal Bell – 3:00PM) Cars enter by Vinewood Ave. and/or Vine Ave.; merge at stop signs and PM LOOP, merge at double-lanes to curb-side. LOOP driving speed: 5 mph in any part of the parking lot or LOOP. PAY ATTENTION; be OFF Cell Phones and technology when driving to the Curb for Drop-off and Pick-up. Curbside drop-off and pick-up only; Note: volunteer parents & teachers available to assist. DRIVE FORWARD as directed by LOOP personnel; we fit 6-7 cars along the curb for efficiency. Students are directed by you and the teachers to WATCH for their cars and be ready to enter. Backpacks and student materials must be stored INSIDE the seat area of the vehicles. No one is allowed at the back or between vehicles curbside, at any time. (NO trunk access!) [Exception: Gr. 6-7-8 Overnight Fieldtrip Gear – additional assistance provided] Drivers must remain in the vehicle at drop-off and pick-up. If drop-off requires adult assistance (school projects etc.), drop students off curbside and park in the center lot to bring items to student or classrooms. SCRIP – available daily in the dismissal LOOP! AGAIN… ALL Families use the LOOP for arrival and dismissal. If you have business to conduct in the school office, please drop off or pick up your students in the LOOP first, then come to the office for whatever you need.

DO NOTs:

Do NOT exceed neighborhood street speed limits, no matter how late you are! Do NOT block our neighbors’ driveways. Do NOT arrive earlier than 20 minutes before the gate opens. Do NOT Enter or Exit the campus through the Church vestibule or sanctuary for ANY REASON!!

Many thanks to our “hearty” and helpful morning loop parent volunteers and dismissal loop teachers!!

STUDENT SAFETY TRAFFIC PLAN (THE LOOP)

The “Student Safety Traffic Plan”, (the loop), is designed to keep our children safe during arrival & departures from school. It is imperative that drivers not exceed 5 mph or be on their cell phone while driving the on campus ( the loop). Children are to exit/enter vehicles from the curbside ONLY. Please be cooperative, patient, and kind to those driving and supervising the “loop”. No traffic will be allowed on the playground during school hours, except during the designated “loop” time.
