    REV. MSGR. RICHARDKREKELBERG

    PASTORSCORNER

In Jesus parable of The King WhoGave a Wedding Feast for his Son,of course he is speaking of theweddingthe marriageof Jesus, his own Son, to his bride, theChurch. Some of the Chosen People

chose not to believe and not to bepart of this marriage; others did andthey eventually became known asChristians. However, as the parablegoes, so many of the invited guestsdid not show up that there wasplenty of room for more, and so theywent out into the streets to gatherthe bad and the good alike to comeinto the banquet. The Christeventhis life, passion, death, resurrect ion, Pentecost , andascensionthen, is the Great

Wedding that began our Church. Ifyou want to take part in the weddingbanquet of the Lord, know that ALLARE WELCOME, the good andthe bad alike. This fundamental, generous, and open invitation is atthe very heart of Evangelization.Exactly six years ago this comingTuesday, on September 14, 2008, our

centennial year, forty of St. Ritasparishioners and friends began theirpilgrimage to Cascia in Italy with thesole purpose of venerating our greatpatroness, St. Rita of Cascia, andpraising God for the gift of being a

local churcha faith communityfor 100 years on this Earth. St. RitaParish was founded by Fathers Barthand Woodcutter to evangelizetoinvite the bad and the good aliketo the table of the Lord: to Baptizethe children of Christians and adultswho wish a seat at the table; toConfirm faith; to Reconcile thosewho stray and wish to return to HolyCommunion; to celebrate andwitness Marriages for the increaseof Jesus family; to Ordain and

commission for service and ministry;and to Anoint for the assurance ofJesus presence and companionshipwhen life becomes vulnerable andfragile. In a nutshell this is anyRoman Catholic faith communityliving the present experience of Jesuswedding to his bride, the Church.

As we at St. Rita enjoy newopportunities for faith formation inChrist, and the proliferation of manyforms of ministry and outreach, weshould feel the gift that the call toevangelization is. The prophet Isaiah

describes the gift so well:On this mountain the Lord of Hosts

will provide for all peopleA feast of rich food and choice wines

On this mountain he will destroythe veil that veils all people

He will destroy death foreverand wipe away the tears from every face.

This is what we must always standforand stand up for. This is theredemption and salvation by Jesus

that all who come to St. Rita shouldexperience. Inviting in the goodand the bad is challenging (not tomention uncomfortable, at timesawkward, and requiring that we benonjudgmental, non-prejudicial).But this is, after all, OUR FAITH.And, we are proud to profess it.

    Dear Parishioners,

    Msgr. Richard

    All are Welcome

    St. Ignatius of Antioch

Born in Syria, Ignatius convertedto Christianity and eventuallybecame bishop of Antioch. In 107,

Emperor Trajan visited Antiochand forced the Christians there tochoose between death andapostasy. Ignatius would not denyChrist and thus was condemned tobe put to death in Rome.

Ignatius is known for the sevenletters he wrote on the longjourney from Antioch to Rome.Five of these letters are tochurches in Asia Minor; they urgethe Christians there to remain

faithful to God and to obey theirsuperiors. The sixth letter was toPolycarp, bishop of Smyrna. Thefinal letter begs the Christians inRome not to try to stop hismartyrdom. Ignatius bravely metthe lions in the Circus Maximus.

    St. Luke

Luke wrote a major portion of theNew Testament, a two-volumework comprising the third Gospel

and Acts of the Apostles. In thetwo books he shows the parallelbetween the life of Christ and thatof the Church. He is the onlyGentile Christian among theGospel writers. Paul calls him "ourbeloved physician." His Gospelwas probably written between A.D.70 and 85. Luke appears in Actsduring Pauls second journey, remains at Philippi for several yearsuntil Paul returns from his thirdjourney, accompanies Paul to

Jerusalem and remains near himwhen he is imprisoned in Caesarea.During these two years, Luke hadtime to seek information andinterview persons who had knownJesus. He accompanied Paul on thedangerous journey to Rome wherehe was a faithful companion."Only Luke is with me," Paulwrites (2 Timothy 4:11).

    Capital Campaign

Q: On the financial report we received two weeksago, our net income is about the same as lastyear, but there is not much extra. How can wesupport our Campaign and still pay our regularparish bills?

A: This is a great question. The Capital Campaign isaddressing some important capital needs of the parishand school, but at the same time, we have to be surethat we keep our doors open and our lights on. Youhave undoubtedly experienced this in your familysfinances. For example, a new roof is needed for yourhome, but of course, you have to continue paying for

your ongoing expenses. New revenue has to be foundwhether it be from your savings, or taking out aloan, or some other revenue source to pay for theroof. This is true here at St. Rita also. That is why itis important that when contributors give to theCampaign, they understand their gift is in addition totheir regular envelope or collection donation. We arehappy to say that so far those contributing to theCampaign have been aware of this and continue withtheir regular giving, thereby also helping us pay ourregular expenses. One more example of the goodnessand generosity of our St. Rita family.
