Welcome Visitors

We wish to extend a warm welcome to all who attend Mass with us each weekend as

visitors to St. Richard Parish.

We are happy to have you with us. Please introduce yourself to our pastor, Fr. Flannagan, at the back of the Church at the

end of Mass.

Year A / SecondSunday of Advent

Our Grand Annual Drive is now underway.

As always, this drive is very important to St. Richard Parish,

as it assists us in continuing to provide all of the programs and

services offered here at St. Richard Parish. We ask that you consider donating whatever you feel is appropriate for you. No donation is ever too small.

Grand Annual Donation to date: $52,240 Goal $85,000

Thank you for your most generous contributions.

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Richard Parish, Thank you, one and all, for your time and most

generous help today with our parish Turkey Drive.

We broke all collection records today for this drive.

156 Turkeys, and many truckloads of food were

collected here. Most was delivered to Danvers People

to People Food Pantry, and some went to River

House, a homeless shelter in Beverly, two places we

traditionally help.

In addition, we received $700. in gift cards for

shopping and $225 in cash for our Outreach

Program, to continue helping those in need. Because of your most generous caring and helping,

several thousand meals have been provided to the

hungry and homeless.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to your

hearts. God Bless you all,

Fr. Bruce Flannagan

Children’s Christmas Choir

Inviting ALL past and new members to join us for this years

Children’s Christmas Choir.

Brenda will be holding rehearsals for Christmas Choir on Saturday, December 10th, 17th and

the 24th at 2pm in the Church.

Please see Brenda to sign up if you wish to be part of the

choir this year.

The Christmas Choir will be filling the church with music

during the 4:00pm Mass on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Flowers

As we prepare for the coming of the Lord’s birth at

Christmas, we remember our family and friends who have

gone before us in faith. All the bonds of love and affection

which draw us together in life, do not come to an end at

death. We await the coming of the Lord again. If you

would like to remember your loved ones at Christmas

time, you may do so by donating to our Christmas Flowers

Fund for the Church. Please enclose your donation in the Christmas Flowers

envelope with the clearly PRINTED NAME(S) OF YOUR

LOVED ONE(S) and drop it in the collection basket dur-

ing Mass. Christmas Flowers envelopes are located on the

tables at the back of the Church. The names of your fami-

ly members and loved ones will be placed in the bulletin to

be prayed for during the Christmas Season.

Thank You

December 4 ~ Second Sunday of Advent Paul told the Christian community of Rome: “Welcome one

another, then, as Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

That is our job too – welcome one another. Matthew describes

John the Baptist, quoting the great prophet Isaiah, “A voice of

one crying out in the desert, Prepare the way of the Lord, make

straight his paths.” That is our job too – prepare the way of the

Lord. We welcome and prepare the way by being joyful and

faithful, ready to tell others about Jesus, the Messiah that we

await in Advent. Archdiocese of Boston

December 4, 2016 Year A / Second Sunday of Advent

www.stricharddanvers.org St. Richard Parish - 90 Forest St., Danvers

2nd Sunday of Advent In a creative writing class, students wrote stories about

childhood memories. What struck the class as they shared

their work was the number of times that the student’s

memories involved a parent’s words or actions toward their

spouse. Students not only recalled how their parents treated

them, but also how they treated each other. The model and

ideal for marriage and family life was set for them long ago. Both our words and actions show our love. We choose to love

someone, to make his or her life better, to show that our

feelings carry over to our deeds. Too often, our kindness

extends beyond our home, failing to fill it. We find it easier to

be kind to strangers and do good to others, and miss the needs

that face us each day. We must set an example of love, one

that our children and grandchildren will imitate. Love is

caught as well as taught. Young and old will see what we do

and live what we teach. May our lessons be good, clear and

true. ~James Gaffney, © 2007 Karides Lic. to St. George Publishing

Catholic Charities North

November, 2016 Dear Father Flannagan and Parishioners,

At-risk youth on the North Shore needed you - and you were

there. For this we are deeply grateful.

Thank you for your recent donation of $500.00 to the

Catholic Charities North Annual Fund. As a member of our

Partners in Mission Society, you are making this important

work possible. Annual Fund donors like you are the backbone

of our programs, and we truly could not do this without your

support.

Thanks to you out-of-school youth will have a second chance

to obtain their diplomas, and young parents will be able to

give their children the best chance. Parents who are learning

English will be able to communicate with their children’s

teachers and obtain employment. With your help many fami-

lies will be on their way to greater self-sufficiency.

Thank you for your support of this work. If you have any

questions about giving or about Catholic Charities North

programs, please contact our Development and Volunteer

Office at 789-593-2312.

Sincerely, Frances Troutman Director

Planned Giving

Is it that time in your life when you are beginning to wonder

where you can make the best impact with a gift from your

estate . Have you considered your own parish and its needs to

continue the work of the Lord. You can tailor your gift as you

would like it to be used. It is always best to get legal council.

Please know that we are most grateful for your prayerful

consideration as a beneficiary.

Thank you very much.
