FROM THE PASTOR…
Dear Parishioners, Below are photos of some shoppers and volunteers at last Sunday’s Christmas Boutique. Thanks to all who supported the effort and/or bought Christmas Wreaths. Linda Sofia won the 50/50 raffle, and Evelyn Nichols won the wreath made up of instant lot-tery tickets. Thanks to the Buckley family for organizing and running this event, and to their assistant elves: Maureen O’Connor, Gloria Gonzalez, Carol Mussi, Richard Mussi, Maryann McMahon, Nancy O’Melia and Sean O’Melia. Speaking of thanks, a belated word of gratitude to Joan Mary and Bill Jackowski, now living in a retirement community in New Jersey. They couldn’t make the recent DOO WOP night here, but they sent a generous donation to contribute to the cause. Much appreciated! Almost everyone in the faith community now knows that St. Raphael’s buried longtime mem-ber/parish “cheerleader” Pat Huber last Monday. At the wake, Father Tom Pettei called her an “ambassador for Christ” and, at the Funeral Mass, I spoke of three aspects of her giftedness shared with us: her conviviality and hospitable spirit; her caretaking (of people and animals); and her love for Catholic priests. Eileen Frawley delivered an eloquent tribute at the liturgy, and Karla Perez and Gladys Tricarico musically rendered a very heartfelt “Ave Maria”. May Pat rest eternally in the peace of Jesus. Please remember to take a tag or two from the Giving Trees, and return the gift(s) there by December 17th. At last Sunday’s Spanish Mass, an obviously new participant to the Giving Tree project showed me the tag he took. It said 14-year-old boy. The man said, “But the tag doesn’t say what he wants.” I replied, “Probably an iPhone X”. -Father Jerry Jecewiz
