Social Ministry News The next meeting of the Social Ministries Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, August 2, at
6:00 p.m. Please come to help us plan for fall activities.
Camp Happy Sands Deliveries Thank you to those who helped serve lunch at Camp Happy Sands. A wonderful time was had by
all.
God’s Work – Our Hands We are planning a Day of Service in October for God’s
Work – Our Hands. We need everyone to help so we can
finish the restoration of the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Look for
the date and other details in the August Newsletter.

Women of the ELCA (WELCA) News “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” Daniel 12:3 Luther World Relief Personal Care Kits
WELCA will continue to collect items for the
Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief through
July and into August. We will be packing on Tuesday,
August 22, 2017, and delivering on Saturday, August
26, 2017 in Daphne, Alabama. We will meet at the
church and caravan to Daphne for drop off, then enjoy
lunch at Ivey’s. Everyone is welcome to join in this
event, either to pack and/or take the trip. It is very
rewarding and the drop-off host is very welcoming.
Ladies Lunch Bunch Each month a group of ladies from St. Paul gather for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on the 4th Thursday of
the month at different restaurants. We always have a wonderful time chatting, laughing, and getting
to know each other better.
Watch the bulletin announcements for the location each month. If you would like to attend, please
sign the sign-up sheet on the Fellowship Hall bulletin board or call/text Alice Fludgate at
850-860-0368 so I can reserve the right size table. All ladies of all ages and their friends are
welcome!
Faith and Eve Circle Updates Just a reminder, we are taking the summer off of Faith and Eve Circles. We will be back in
September with new and exciting ideas. Hope you will consider joining one of these groups.
WELCA Fellowship – Painting with a Twist
Painting with a Twist was a big hit. There were 11
ladies in attendance, and fun was had by all. Not
only was there great fellowship, attendees painted
a nice beach scene. Pe rhaps there will be a
“showing” of their paintings in the near future?
Another “Paint with a Twist” event is being
planned. Look for the sign-up in the Fellowship
Hall. If you are interested, please sign up and let
us know what day of the week will work best for
you. Once we get a majority, a date will be set.
Thanks to Jeanne Clark for organizing this event.
God’s Peace,
Brenda

Hospitality News Good Stewards of God’s Grace “Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining.” 1 Peter 4: 8-9 Patriotic Bake Sale Thank you all for your contribution and participation in our annual Patriotic Bake Sale. It was a big
success! Hope everyone enjoyed their “goodies” and not too many calories! The bake sale of course
was exciting and “fruitful”. The ladies and gentlemen of Hospitality worked very hard, but
cheerfully to support the mission and ministry of St. Paul.
Welcome, New Members June was a busy month for the
Hospitality team. New Members, Fe
Cook, Tim Madden, Spencer, Lora, and
Helen Cross were welcomed with a
cake, punch, and coffee reception.
If you have not introduced yourself to
them, please catch up with them during
Hospitality time after worship.
Be a Coffee Host If you have not serve during coffee time you are
missing out! It is a joy to serve others. Be a “sharer”
and be of “Koinonia” as Jesus is in us. Sign up to
serve! You won’t regret it. Host Sponsor for July is
Faye Robinson. Thanks to everyone who served as
“Coffee Host” in June. You are so appreciated!

Cook Day with the Hospitality Teams The Hospitality team will hold a casserole cook day on Wednesday, July12, 2017 in the kitchen
here at St. Paul. The Hospitality, Member Care, and Bereavement teams have been combined
recently to better serve and support one another and the congregation of St. Paul. Casseroles are
taken to church members when they have experienced a difficult time or a joyful time in their lives.
If you would like to become part of this ministry and are unable to participate in the preparation of
food there are other ways you can help. There will be a sign-up sheet outside of fellowship hall for
donations of food. Monetary donations are also, welcome. This is an ongoing whole church
ministry. Thank you for making this ministry a success.
The following food items are needed for the next Cook Day. Please drop items off in the church
kitchen.
20 91/4” X 7” MICROWAVE/OVEN PANS 5 lbs Ground beef (1 lb each) 2 1lb boxes of penne pasta 4 pkg instant mashed potatoes (serving for 4 per pkg) 3 1 lb pkg of frozen mixed vegetables 2 cans of tomato soup (10 1/2 oz) 6 cans of cream of mushroom soup (10 ½ oz) 2 qts of beef stock 2 onions 4 lbs chicken breasts 4 pkg shredded cheddar or colby jack cheese (2 cup pkg) 1 lg can of grated parmesan cheese
Fresh Market on Airport and 9th Ave has hamburger and chicken breasts for $2.99 a lb (10 lb limit)
on Tuesdays or Sam’s club may have it cheaper. This loving ministry reminds me of Jesus’ advice
to “do to others as you would have them do to you” (Matthew 7:12).
On behalf of the Hospitality Team, we wish you all a Happy and Safe 4th of July. Let us give God
the thanks and praises for our freedom!
God’s Peace,
Brenda

What We Believe as Followers of Jesus
• Our Triune God is eternal, revealed in the Bible: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1-3 John 1:1 Matthew 3:16
• We are separated from God by sin which is part of human nature. Isaiah 59:2 Romans 3:23 Ephesians 2:1
• Jesus as truly human and Divine, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, and was buried,
resurrected to life, all of this for the forgiveness of our sins and to reconcile us with God. John 3:16 Romans 5:8 2 Corinthians 5:21
• We are saved by God’s actions for us and His gift of grace, which we receive by faith. Philippians 2:4-8 Ephesians 2:8-9 Galatians 2:16
• The Bible alone is the Word of God. John 1:1 2 Timothy 3:16-17 2 Peter 1:20-21
• Through Baptism, (infant and believers) we are adopted as God’s children and Jesus
commands us to share the Love of God through the Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20 Romans 6:4-6 Acts 2:38-39
• Jesus gives you Himself through the Sacrament of Holy Communion, assuring you
forgiveness of sin. Matthew 26:26-28 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
• We are called to give our lives to following Jesus, commissioned to call other people to
Jesus by sharing His love in our words and actions. Matthew 28:18-20 John 15:26-27 Luke 24:46-47 1 John 3:16-18
• The Holy Spirit brings people to faith in Jesus and then gives gifts to each; bringing
strength to the Body of Christ. John 6:63 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 1 Corinthians 14:12 Romans 12:4-8
• Jesus will come again in glory at a time only God knows to judge all people and give
eternal life. John 17:1-3 Acts 1:10-11 John 5:24 Mark 13:32-37
• In worship, God is present among the people as they glorify God in praise and
thanksgiving. Therefore, we come to Him relaxed and reverent as we worship. Isaiah 6:1-4 Matthew 4:10 Deuteronomy 8:19 John 4:24 Luke 11:2
• The purpose of worship is to encounter God.
Psalm 95:6-7 Psalm 100:2-4 John 4:23-24
• We welcome children and teens to participate in worship for they are not the church of
tomorrow. They are the church of today.
Matthew 19:13-14 1 Timothy 4:12
• Prayer is real and powerful. Matthew 21:21-22 Luke 11:1-13 John 14:13-14 James 5:13-18 Ephesians 6:18-19 Hebrews 4
