Pastor’s Corner:
Dear Parishioners,
We welcome back the women who
have been on an ACTS retreat this
week. May your hearts be at peace and
on fire with the love of the Lord.
Thanks to the retreat committee and for all who helped
bring this to fruition.
Children in our Pastorate are celebrating their First
Reconciliations at this time of year. We give thanks for
your parents and teachers in preparing you for this
great sacrament.
Next Saturday, the 20th beginning at 11 AM is the sec-
ond Brown Bag Lunch at St. Paul’s. The presenter will
be Anne Buening (Fr. Matt’s Mom) on the evolution of
Lay Ministry. Sign up by contacting Kate Kleintank.
Listening sessions for the Synod will be held in the
Church at Resurrection on Thursday, Nov. 18th and
Sunday Nov. 21st at 7 PM. Come and give voice to your
hopes and dreams for the future of our Catholic
Church.
Next Sunday at the 11:30 Mass at Resurrection,
August and Delphine Meerschaert will be honored by
Worldwide Marriage Encounter for being the longest
married Couple in the State of Maryland. They have
been married 72 years! Wow.
Thanks to those who helped last Saturday with the St.
Paul’s grounds clean up. The place looks great.
Thanks to scouts Luke Larcher for beautifying the
grounds in the station area at Church of the Resurrec-
tion and to Rhys Rummel for replacing the walking
bridge leading to the stations. Good job guys!
Fr. John
Deacon’s Note:
Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ,
The granite step restoration project
has been underway for three weeks
and good progress has been made.
The small set of stairs (7 steps) at the end of the path
between the Church and the Office building have been
restored, the final pointing of these stairs will take place
after the custom made mortar arrives. During the resto-
ration of two main stairs leading to the Church it was
discovered that the damage is much more than ex-
pected. There is extensive erosion of both the internal
and external walls. This discovery required significant
external and internal bracing of the walls and step
treads. As the walls are rebuilt and each tread leveled,
permanent reinforcing structures will be installed and
the wooden interim bracing will be removed. The con-
tractor believes that the original budget will be sufficient
to complete the project and they remain on schedule to
complete prior to Christmas. Please continue to pray that
no other problems will be found and the weather condi-
tions will be such that their schedule is not delayed.
Exterior lighting has been installed in the back parking
lot to support the Youth Ministry activities. A basketball
court is also being installed on the back parking lot for
the Youth Ministry. A locking mechanism has been pur-
chased for the basketball hoop to preclude others from
using the basketball court outside of Youth Ministry ac-
tivities.
A big thank for those who helped with the Fall Clean-up
at St. Paul's Parish last weekend! The truck was over-
filled with debris (there is much more to be removed in 3
weeks on Saturday, November 27th at 9am-3pm). All the
bushes that were over grown were trimmed and shaped
this past weekend. All of the flower beds at the lower
parking lot and around Dohony Hall were weeded and
cleaned out.
Thank you for your continued support of our beloved par-
ish, without your generosity we would not be able to
keep our campus looking beautiful and fully operational.
God Bless,
Deacon George
Thank You!
The Grassroots Route 1 Medical Programs wish to
thank the parishioners of St. Paul for the generous
donation of $519.40. Our donation will help the
medical program continue it’s mission to provide
medical care to those in need in Howard County.
