RE AROUND THE ROOMS Our children will have a range of learning experiences in Religious Education this term. These will include the planned units of work at each level as well as whole school experiences of prayer which include Anzac Day and Catholic Education Week celebrations and liturgies. Our assemblies continue to be an opportunity for our school community to pray together at the end of our busy weeks of learning.

F/1 Celebrating our earth and seasons The children will look at the seasons of the Church and name the important events in the Church calendar. They will investigate the seasons and link them to the sequence of events of Lent, Easter, Advent and Christmas.

2/3 Mission The children will be investigating the three sacraments of initiation. They will be asked to find examples of how Jesus and the apostles acted in a loving way, and identify these actions in people they know in their lives. Children will be looking at the gifts of the Holy Spirit and Pentecost.

4/5/6 People of Prayer The children will investigate the religions of our neighbouring countries and compare and contrast the elements of prayer, tradition, symbol and religious art. Their investigations will deepen their understanding of Catholic ritual and the commonalities between religions of the region of Southeast Asia.

Visual Arts Report

VISUAL ARTS REPORT Hello from the Visual Arts room. Last term was very busy but we managed to squeeze some fantastic art experiences into our learning time together. We had a whole school focus on drawing and we experimented with many drawing mediums. We also learned some new techniques such as cross hatching and shading.

This term we are focusing on painting and printmaking. We can’t wait to show you what we have been doing. Monique McCartney - Visual Arts Teacher.

In F/1 we made self portraits with markers, using line, colour and shape.

In 2 / 3 we used rulers to design and draw our own Irish seafarer houses.

In 4/5/6 we completed a still life sketch of local plants in our school garden. We focused on mimicking nature’s patterns and textures.
