ST PATRICK’S PRIMARY SCHOOL
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the school
year for 2020 and I hope all our
families had a relaxing and
enjoyable holiday as a family. I
would like to extend a special
welcome to all the new families
who have joined our
community. We are very glad
you have chosen our school and
we hope you enjoy your time
with us for many years.
WELCOME TO NEW STAFF
We would like to welcome
Daniel Bau (5BA), Matt Hale
(6GI, 2UN and PAD), Ellie
Counihan (PE), Amanda Lalor
(LSO) and Renee Reed (LSO) to
our school. We are sure they will
be made to feel very welcome.
They are great additions to our
staff. Attached to this newsletter
is a list of the staff and their
roles for 2020.
MATHS FAMILY EVENING
We will be holding a Maths
Family night on Wednesday
19th February for all families in
the hall and around the school.
This will be an opportunity for
parents to meet our class
teachers and learn what our
children do in Maths by
completing some activities with
them.
OPENING SCHOOL MASS
We will have our Opening
School Mass on Tuesday 4th
February at 9:15am. We
would like to invite all families
to join us if you can make it to
the Mass. The leaders for 2020
will receive their badges at this
Mass. There is no photography
allowed during the Mass but we
will have opportunities for
families to take photos of our
new leaders after Mass.
STUDENT LEADERS
The Year 6 student leaders will
be presented with their badges at
the Opening School Mass on
Tuesday. The leaders for this
year are as follows:
SCHOOL CAPTAINS
Giselle Woll
Matthew Bergin
VICE SCHOOL CAPTAINS
Gracie Oliver
Jack Terrell
2020 CALENDAR
Attached to this newsletter are
all the key dates for 2020. All
dates have also been placed on
our school website.
SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Our Inter-House Swimming
Carnival for Year 3-6 will be
held next Wednesday at
11:30am at the Bayside Aquatic
Centre. Parents are more than
welcome to come and support
our students. This is another
extension to our sport program,
which we believe offers many
opportunities for the students.
PARENT/TEACHER
INFORMATION
EXCHANGE SESSIONS
The teachers will be holding
information exchange sessions
where parents will have the
opportunity to pass on valuable
information about your child.
These will begin in week 6 with
more information to be sent
home next week. Students from
Year 3-6 will be invited to
attend these meetings.
AMBULANCE FUND
It is important that all families
have ambulance coverage for
your children. If we have a
serious accident or injury at
school, we will be calling an
ambulance to care for your
child. Without coverage, this
can become very expensive.
MEDICATION
If a child requires medication at
school, parents are required to
send the completed
administration of medication
form to school. These can be
obtained from the school office
when necessary.
CAREMONKEY &
SKOOLBAG
For all new families it is
important that your child’s
medical details be updated on
Caremonkey. If you need
information on how to access
Caremonkey, please contact the
school office.
School information and
messages are sent home via
Skoolbag and email. This app
can be downloaded from the app
store.
CANTEEN
The canteen will open on
Tuesday 4th February and will
operate every Tuesday and
Thursday from this date. Orders
must be placed via Flexischools.
Best Wishes

About The Canteen Menu
A LIST OF INGREDIENTS IN THE ITEMS IS AVAILABLE AT IN THE OFFICE.
Sandwiches and Jaffles Wholemeal bread is used (please indicate if you would prefer white bread) Gourmet bread is a grain bread (please indicate and pay if you would like this) All toasted sandwiches have margarine spread on the outside (not inside) Mayonnaise is used on all sandwiches, with the exception of vegemite. Please indicate if you would like margarine or nothing. All tuna sandwiches are mixed with a small amount of mayonnaise (stops the tuna being so dry). The salad sandwich has a slice of cheese and a spread of mayonnaise on each slice of bread. Salad ingredients are generous in the amounts included in the sandwich (ie: about 4 slices tomato). The ingredients are grated carrot, cucumber, tomato, beetroot and lettuce. Salads Salads are made fresh and include lettuce, tomato, grated carrot, continental cucumber slices and a slice of cheese. The French dressing is in a sachet. Beetroot is included only on request. Egg is halved for the salad and chicken is sliced. They come in a medium rectangle plastic container with lid and fork. Fresh Fruit Fruit is served based on the Australian Dietary Guidelines serves of fruit. Each fresh fruit serve offered at the canteen counts as a piece of fruit. Remember 2 or more is the recommended amount to be eaten by school children each day. The fruit served is cold from the fridge. The fruit salad is sliced or diced fruit when necessary and served in disposable plastic container. Pineapple slice is a canned sliced pineapple ring frozen. Hot Foods Chicken nuggets and Tenders are made from chicken breast and baked in the oven. 1 Tender equals approx. 2 nuggets. Beef Pan Rolls are Indian inspired crepes with a beef & veg filling then crumbed and baked. There are 2 per pack and a great alternative to pies and sausage rolls. All pastry foods meet the amber recommendations as stated in Victorian Healthy Canteen Policy. Meat pies are the long ‘traveller’version, which is easier to eat for children. Chicken burger has a little mayonnaise and lettuce. Corn cob is fresh corn not frozen and is about 8cm long. Baked potato comes with the choice of grated cheese or sour cream. They are served in a disposable container with a fork. Drinks All drinks meet the recommendations as stated in Victorian Healthy Canteen Policy. Flavoured milk is low fat. Quench is minimal sugar (less than 10% sugar per 100ml) flavoured sparkling mineral water. Bakery Treats Biscuit and/or a Slice will be available from the canteen cooked fresh each morning. The variety will be different each fortnight, check the newsletter. They will be healthy with minimal fat and low-fat dairy products used. Snack Foods Popcorn is freshly popped with no extras (e.g.; butter, sugar, salt) added. Rice Bubble Slice is homemade and contain no egg. NUT-FREE CANTEEN This canteen is nut-free. No nut products are used in the canteen. A complete ingredient listing of pre-prepared food is available in the office. ORDERING LUNCHES- Online www.flexischools.com.au is the online service Bayside Canteens use to order your children’s lunches. Initially you are required to set up an account. One account per family this can then be used for all the children in the family. If you have any queries please call into the canteen or ring flexischools (1300 361769)
