Nutrition has a direct effect on the quality of your life and thinking that good nutrition costs a fortune isa misnomer. There are many reasons why adults should pay close attention to their nutritional needs.
Proper nutrition ensures a balanced energy intake and this means the body does not have to store extrabody fat. Extra body fat is responsible for serious health problems such as strokes, heart attacks, high bloodpressure due to hindered blood vessels, osteoporosis and more.
Healthy nutrition also helps in warding off from various ailments while poor nutrition can cause ill healthand suppress immune function.
Nutrient-rich (or nutrient-dense) foods contain a lot of vitamins and minerals and few calories. They alsoare low in sugar, sodium, starches, and bad fats. Your body needs vitamins and minerals, known asmicronutrients. They nourish your body and help keep you healthy. They can reduce your risk for chronicdiseases. Getting them through food ensures that your body can absorb them properly.
Choose a diet made up of nutrient-rich foods. Try to eat a variety of foods to get different vitamins andminerals. Foods that naturally are nutrient-rich include fruits and vegetables. Lean meats, fish, wholegrains, dairy, legumes, nuts, and seeds also are high in nutrients.

As a child, you may have had•to make your bed every single morning and couldn't•leave forschool until you did. Why? Nobody saw it and your bed just got all messed up again when youwent to sleep at night, right?
Admiral William McRaven was recently interviewed by Charlie Rose on this exact topic. AdmiralMcRaven had served as a Navy SEAL in the past. In this interview, McRaven told of hismorning habit that his mother had instilled into him as a child that his bed had to be made, andhe had to make it every morning. She taught him how to bring the blankets smoothly over theentire bed and how to place the pillow•properly on the bed to finish this task. His mother was aTexas school teacher and his father was an Air Force Officer.
He said he didn't grasp the importance of the simple task of making his bed in the morning untilhe was in SEAL training where they were required not only to make the bed, but that it had tobe done exactly by their standards in order to pass inspection. This inspection, in conjunctionwith the uniform inspection, was performed every single morning. Solidifying and reinforcing hischildhood training, this inspection procedure was taking the required excellence in daily tasks toa whole new level.
McRaven said the lesson learned here was to do the first task of the day and to do it right. Thenyou could move on to the next task, always implementing the same attitude and mental fortitudein completing the task. There are very few who qualify for the level ofdiscipline that is required by the strict standards in the SEAL training. It's training for the highest and most mentally and physically taxingpart of the military. It requires a high level of individual self-disciplineand it starts right there - with individual self-discipline.

PUZZLE OF THE MONTHI am composed of 4 letters.
My first’s in a fish, but not in a owl.
My second’s in shad, but not in a fowl.
My third’s in a crab, but not in a quail.
My fourth’s in a mackerel, but not in its tail.

(IN THE BEGINNING)
The sun is a huntress young,
The sun is a red, red joy,
The sun is an Indian girl,
Of the tribe of the Illinois.
(MID-MORNING)
The sun is a smouldering fire,
That creeps through the high gray plain,
And leaves not a bush of cloud
To blossom with flowers of rain.
(NOON)
The sun is a wounded deer,
That treads pale grass in the skies,
Shaking his golden horns,
Flashing his baleful eyes.
(SUNSET)
The sun is an eagle old,
There in the windless west.
Atop of the spirit-cliffs
He builds him a crimson nest.

Dr. William Buchan, the 18th-century Scottish physician wrote, “Of all the causeswhich conspire to render the life of a man short and miserable, none havegreater influence than the want of proper exercise.”
Dr. Buchan was well ahead of his time inthis statement. Today, we know thatregular physical activity has been provenin study after study to improve quality oflife as we age and help to reduce manyof the aches and pains that were onceassumed to be part of the aging process.Participants in our Live 2 B Healthyclasses can tell you that regular physicalfitness makes a big difference in improv-ing their balance, flexibility and strength.
We regularly see improvements in testing results among even our most seniorparticipants. And many of them credit Live 2 B Healthy classes as the secret to theirability to continue to independently participate in the activities that contribute totheir overall well-being. Activities like playing with grandchildren and great-grand-children, enjoying the outdoors, and managing their own personal care becomeeasier with regular physical activity.
The Live 2 B Healthy program is provento helps seniors improve both balanceand overall strength. Live 2 B HealthyTrainers are all Certified Personal Train-ers who are experienced in working withseniors. They are familiar with the chal-lenges that come with age and custom-ize exercise to fit the individual needs ofeach resident. Our trainers keep partic-ipants motivated throughout the classand make an effort to get to know eachand every person by name.
