BY: JOAN DRALLE

Are you being called to this Ministry? This is such a rewarding experience!

We are in need of volunteers who would feel comfortable visiting the Catholic patients at Arroyo Grande Hospital

approximately one day month.

We visit the sick, pray with them, listen to their stories, encourage them, and most important, bring them Eucharist.

We share with them our faith that they are in the hands of God, who loves them and will not abandon them

in their hour of need.

St. Patrick’s parish staffs the Arroyo Grande Hospital seven days a week, 365 days a year. We have 26 dedicated,

faith-filled volunteers willing to give of their time to visit the Catholics in the hospital, bringing comfort

and hope to the patients.

The blessings you will receive are many. God always gives us more than we give in service and discipleship.

If you feel a tug at your heart, I will meet with you and explain the details.

Please call Jerri Fife ~ 805.489.2680

“When did we see you ill? ‘Whatever you did for one of these least brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’”

MATTHEW 25:39-40

What does it mean to be a Hospital Minister of Communion?

The Second Vatican Council continually speaks of baptism as the source of all Christian ministry. We, the laity, through our baptism, are made sharers in the role doing what we can

to help the sick return to health, by showing love for the sick, and by celebrating the sacraments with them.

So, this is what it means to be a Hospital Minister of Communion:

Be the hands of Jesus, serving the ill, as He has commanded.

The St. Patrick’s Craft Group We are happy to announce our raffle winners:

PLANNING FOR A CATHOLIC FUNERAL AND BURIAL

Life is so full of joy – none of us likes to think much about death. It’s an uncomfortable topic, but it is inevitable. Staff members from Old Mission Catholic Cemetery in San Luis Obispo are available to discuss the spiritual and practical reasons for learning about how to plan a Catholic funeral and burial for yourself and your loved ones. These rites are an integral part of the Church and our Catholic community, and burying the dead is one of the Corporal Works of Mercy. If you would like to better understand the importance of a Catholic funeral and burial, the Church’s position on alternatives such as cremation, and other helpful information, call for an appointment at Old Mission Cemetery at 805-541-0584.

Pre-planning and making your wishes known can be a great gift to your family.

HELP NEEDED FOR HOSPITALITY SUNDAY

Help is needed after the 9:00 am and 10:30 am Masses with our once-a-month Sunday Hospitality which are held in the

Parish Hall. After the 9:00 am Mass we need assistance in serving and slicing

donuts, and preparing the tables for after the 10:30 am Mass. After the 10:30 am Mass we need assistance in serving and clean up.

A couple, or a couple of friends who enjoy working together and who attend either of

these Masses would be ideal.

The commitment would be just once a month!
