MISSION STATEMENT
St. Michael the Archangel Parish, a diverse, spiritual community in action, is dedicated to drawing people to Christ, to growing disciples, and to making church and worship matter. We do this (1) through our liturgical worship as we remember and celebrate in memory of Him; (2) through the proclamation of the Good News, as we believe and profess the message of Jesus Christ not only from the pulpit, but also in the way we live our lives; (3) through living out our stewardship of time, talent, and treasure in the service of the needs of our church, the needs of one another, and the needs of those who seek divine help through our doors.

The more profound things are, the simpler they seem to be. The essence of the Gospel and this season coalesces in today’s focus on God’s love for us and the command-ment to love one another. This may seem far too sim-ple; but the reality is amazing and a little terrifying. If we are honest, we know both the impact and the cost of this kind of love from our personal experience. Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48 God’s presence is available to all. Ps 98 The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power. 1 Jn 4:7-10 God is made known to us through love. Jn 15:9-17 “This I command you: love one another.”

SHARING GOD’S BLESSINGS ANNUAL APPEAL Thanks to all our parishioners who have made their gift to the 2018 Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal. St. Michael’s is 59% towards our goal of $48,395. If you have not yet made a gift or pledge, please fill out a commitment card located in the Church. Please help support the many programs and ministries that as-sist so many in our community. Our parish also benefits by receiving a rebate from the appeal if it exceeds its goal. If we exceed the goal, we will use the re-bate towards the new air-conditioning system.

Once again, thank you.

ST. MICHAEL’S ANNUAL MAY CROWNING WEDNESDAY EVENING, MAY 16TH, 7:00 PM The month of May is especially dedicated to the Blessed Mother, and here at St. Michael’s we honor her in song and prayer at our May Crowning. Our new first communicants will be present and are asked to wear their Communion apparel. The first communi-cants planning to attend should be in the Lower Church at 6:30 PM to prepare pro-cession. Parents attending may bring flowers for “Mary’s Garden” if they wish, and place then in the urns in front of the altar. Each child will receive a flower as they process into the Church. This is a very special way to celebrate God’s gift to us with the children. Fr. Miles will be with us for the celebration.
The ELVIS IMPERSONATOR SHOW FUND RAISER was a huge success! Everybody had a great time dancing to Elvis Presley’s music. Thank you to all who organized and helped out to make this fund raiser a suc-cess. 139 tickets were sold yielding $2,665 in profit.
GOOD NEWS FROM THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS As part of our ongoing charitable programs of the Union Knights of Columbus Council 4505, the Co-lumbian Swim Club has created a new membership category and is extending membership invitations to all St. Michael’s parishioners and families. As a parishioner you do not need to be a member of the Knights of Columbus to take advantage of this OA-SIS in Union. You must be a registered member of St. Michael Church. Parishioner’s pool member-ships include both spouses, all children up to the age of 25 years and all grandchildren of the parish-ioner. The Swim Club offers a low cost, summer fun swimming environment that includes a large swim-ming pool, deck chairs, umbrellas, changing/bathing facilities, baby pool and certified life guards. The Swim Club will open to its members on May 26, 2018 with a pool side Mass and blessing. Mem-bership applications can be obtained by download-ing an application from our council’s website at www.kofc4504.org or emailing Christine Berlew at [email protected]. Applications can be found by clicking on the other button and then the Swim Club button.

MATCHING GIFTS
Double Your Donation to St. Michael’s Church!
Many companies offer matching gift programs to
encourage employees to contribute to charitable
organizations. Most of these programs match con-
tributions dollar for dollar, and some will even dou-
ble or triple the amount of your gift!
Please check with your company to see if it offers a
matching gift program that will match your gift to
St. Michael’s Church.
Your personal gift and matched contribution will be
credited to the St. Michael’s project that you desig-
nate. This spring St. Michael’s Church is raising
funds to purchase and install 2 new church air con-
ditioner units. Matching funds from your employer
would be a great addition to this fundraiser.
If you have any questions or need additional infor-
mation, please feel free to contact the Parish Center
Office at stmichaelunion.org or call 908-688-1232.
