Your Dona!ons To Catholic Chari!es At Work

Rahim* (name changed) was born in southern Iraq. Growing up, he loved cars and learned to fix them. As an adult, he got a job with a U.S. company fixing machines. When insurgents discovered that Rahim was working for the U.S., he became a target. He was granted a special immigration visa and arrived in the U.S. in 2012. Catholic Charities helped him resettle and now he is not only working, but also studying at a university. He is grateful to Catholic Charities for the opportunity to live free from death threats and to start a new life.

In 2015, Catholic Charities agencies helped 14,350 refugees achieve self-sufficiency.

Mass And A Movie Sunday

Mark your calendars for M and M Sunday (Mass and a Movie). The vocations committee will be showing a movie in the parish center after the 10:30 am Mass on Sunday, June 10. Please bring what you would like to sit on while watching the movie, such as a lawn chair, camp chair, sleeping bag or blanket. The committee will provide popcorn and a drink. You are welcome to bring a snack or a picnic lunch. Come join us for some fellowship and a FREE MOVIE!

Alzheimer’s Support Group The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet Monday, June 11, at 3:00 pm at the Harlan Senior Center located within the Therkildsen Activity Center.

Understanding Your Grief This is a series of six grief classes for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. Classes will be held on Thursdays, June 14, 21, 28, July 12, 19, and 26 in the Board Room at Myrtue Medical Center from 1:30-3:00pm. There is no charge for the classes, however registration is required by calling 712-755-4424 by June 6. The program is sponsored by Myrtue Hospice.

Retreat Opportunity

The St. Benedict Center in Schulyer, Nebraska is hosting a one day retreat on Saturday, June 16, from 10:00am-4:00pm. The title of the retreat is Equipped. Fr. Jeffrey P. Lorig from Omaha will be the presenter. This day of reflection will focus not only on what the Church means by evangelization, but will equip disciples with the basic tools necessary to help others have a life-transforming encounter with Jesus Christ. Pilgrimage of Service

Franciscan Common Venture Summer Service program has a volunteer opportunity July 10-14, in Waterloo, Iowa. They are in need of 2-4 women

& men volunteers (Age 20+). Volunteers will give a variety of service related to the inclusion and celebration of the increasingly diverse population of Waterloo: food bank community garden, meal site, activites with the Burmese community, among other tasks.
