“For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we

live or die, we are the Lord’s.” — Romans 14:8

This is the essence of stewardship — every-thing we have and everything we are is a gift from God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts that God has given us, especially our very own lives. Pray to God daily and ask Him how He is calling you to live the life that He intended for you.

SPECIAL COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND

St. Michael’s only: There is an envelope in your Offering Enve-lope Packet for Bazaar Meat for next weekend (Sept. 19 & 20). Since we will not have a typical Bazaar we are asking for dona-tions to help with supplies needed to put a Drive-Thru meal together (if that is what is decided) or if you are financially able, please make a donation to the Bazaar in the amount of what you would normally spend at the Bazaar. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

The work on the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Old Church/Chapel is almost complete. We are moving back in and the Parish Office should be open

for business on Wednesday, September 16th. However, Mass will contin-ue in the main church for the time being.

Seven statues were sent out to get repaired and painted and they should be coming back on September 14th. They look awesome.

We will need to make some changes in the Chapel to help keep the stat-ues looking good. We will need to change to votive candles instead of the

6 day candles to help reduce the amount of smoke or soot from the candles that discolor the statues.

**Question: The Old Church was built in 1925 and we would like to find out about how old the statues are. If you can look at old pictures and see if you can see the statues in the picture we can possibly determine how old they are. Please call the Parish Office if you can find evidence on

how old the statues can be.

FAITH FORMATION CALENDAR FOR SEPTEMBER

The St. Michael SVdP Society reports each month the total peo-ple helped and the total dollar amount of the service expenses provided to those in need. This shows how monies donated to SVdP are being spent in helping those in need. Without your help, they would not have the funding to help those suffering from a financial crisis. If you would like to join this gratifying organization—ALL ARE WELCOME!

Your Donations In Use For Those in Need

Two people were helped for a total of

$650.00 in assistance and school supplies were purchased to fill 30 backpacks for children in nine families.

SVdP thanks you for your support.

Our prayers and condolences to Linda Jan & family on the loss of her husband, Art Jan, who passed away on Monday,

September 7, 2020 and to Andrea Morgen-stern on the loss of her mother, Pauline Perry, who passed away on August 27, 2020.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, And let the perpetual light shine upon them,

OFFERTORY GIVING OPTIONS As Catholics, we believe that all we have is a gift from God. Our response in faith is to offer these gifts back to God in gratitude. With gifts of prayer, we pray for our nation, Church and our parishes. With gifts of treasure, we support our parishes even when we cannot be there in person.

1. Please drop off your offerings at the St. Michael’s Parish Office during office hours or use the secure drop box. (Sts. Cyril & Methodius parishioners can drop their donations there too.) 2. Mail your offertory to either parish address.

3. Sign up for electronic/online giving through our provider ParishSoft Giving at: St. Michael’s: https://giving.parishsoft.com/app/giving/stmc

DIOCESAN SERVICES FUND (DSF) Summary Report 7/16/2020

Barbecue Buzz: Our Barbecue Dinner is next Sunday, September 20th. Your help is needed.

We need volunteers to be there early and stay later to clean. Quentin Fojtik is in charge of the dinner, and Kathy Fojtik is running the

kitchen. Here’s where we need help:

• Spread the info about the dinner: Facebook, put up post-ers, tell family and friends.

• Pits: need volunteers to barbecue the chicken, cook the sausage and prepare the beans.

• Take orders, money, and runners to deliver plates to cars.

• Under the Pavilion: need baked goods (Carolyn Fink is chairman for Bake Sale), fry egg rolls.

We will be setting up a few table under the Pavilion in case peo-ple want to listen to the M&M Playboys and eat their meal.

We ask families to make desserts to go (packaged if possible) and items for the Bake Sale. If you can price the items that would be helpful as you know how much money and time is put into it. Boxed cakes do not sell for as much as a cake with lots of ingredients made from scratch. We did sell out of baked goods at the turkey dinner in March so people are buying even though it is a drive-thru dinner.

Face masks will be required and social distancing encouraged if possible.

If you will text Charlotte Mills at 910-797-6956 and give me your name and where you would like to help out that would be helpful. Or let Quentin or Kathy know if you can help in the pit or kitchen. Let Carolyn Fink know if you can help her with the Bake Sale. Let’s all work together to make this dinner a suc-cess. BEE a part of it. Thanks. Charlotte Mills
