Teaching and support staff
We have begun the process of appointing a
Headteacher. S/he will be instrumental in preparing
for the opening of the school in September 2013.
In addition we will appoint a Reception teacher
(and a Teaching Assistant) plus administrative andmaintenance staff. As the school grows we will
appoint teachers year by year. All teachers will be
professionally trained and qualified. Officers fromthe London Diocesan Board for Schools are
strengthening our preparation for the school.
The proposed curriculum
Our vision is to provide a quality education for every
child. The curriculum will be broad, balanced andexciting, embracing a range of learning opportunities.
Learning will be based on the National Curriculum, with an emphasis on Maths and English, particularly
enriched by Music and Art.
Christian perspectives and principles will beintegrated within the context of the curriculum,
when appropriate.
As a school for our local community we will expectto meet the needs of children with a wide range of
abilities and needs; we will comply fully with the
Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
Admissions policy
Families who live in Hampton South are currently
disadvantaged in their choice of school. We aim to
provide the option of a small and local Church ofEngland primary school serving Hampton, and in
particular families from Hampton South.
After the admission of any pupil with a statement
of Special Educational Needs, where the school is
named on the statement, oversubscription criteria
will be applied in this order:
i. Looked afterchildren and previously Looked afterchildren;
ii. Children with a sibling already on-roll at St MarysPrimary School who will be on-roll when the child
is admitted (applies from September 2014);iii. Children whom the Governors accept have an
exceptional medical or social need for a place
at the school;
iv. Children who live in Hampton South;v. Children who live in Hampton;vi. And other children, with priority to those living
closest to the school.
We welcome applications from families of all faiths
and none. Admission is without regard to churchattendance.
Our recognition of the uniqueness of each child
arises directly from our Christian values; everyone is
created in Gods image. Our curriculum and teaching
will ensure that children of all abilities, faiths and
backgrounds are fully included, encouraged todevelop and given access to all activities. A full copy
of our SEN Policy can be found at
www.st-marys-hampton-primary.org.
Details of the full application process, definitions of
Hampton South and Hampton and the procedure
for allocating children within categories are available
from the school website.
How the school will be run
St Marys Hampton will be a Free School. It is being
jointly planned by a local volunteer group and theLondon Diocesan Board for Schools. The Diocese
already runs 150 C of E schools in London, including
St Mary and St Peters in Teddington, who will supportSt Marys Hampton as part of a family of local schools,
by sharing their expertise with us.
As with all Academy Schools and Free Schools, there
will be an Academy Trust which will enter a Funding
Agreement with the Department for Education (DfE)before the school opens. Funding for the school will
be direct from the DfE rather than via the local
authority. The Funding Agreement sets out the
agreement between the DfE and the Free School.
The Model Funding Agreement can be found here:
http://bit.ly/R9DPCw on the DfE website.
Free from feesParents will not have to pay to send their children to
this school. The day to day running of the school and
decision-making will be undertaken by a Board of
Governors including representatives from: St MarysParish Church, the London Diocesan Board of Schools,
the local community, parents and school staff.
