A Prayer for
My Parish
Almighty God, my parish family is composed
of people like me. I help make it what it is.
It will be friendly, if I am. Its pews will be
filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I work. It will make
generous gifts to many causes, if I am a
generous giver.
It will bring other people into its worship and
fellowship, if I invite and bring them.
It will be a parish family of loyalty and love,
of fearlessness and faith, and a parish with a
noble spirit, if I - who make it what it is - am
filled with these same qualities.
Therefore, with the help of God,
I will dedicate myself to the
task of being all the things that
I want my parish family to be. Amen.

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 8, 2018
FROM THE PASTOR: Dear Members of the St. Mary’s Family. Below I have reprinted a note Cardinal
O’Malley recently sent to all of his priests. I feel it could easily have been written to all of you who do so much
to build up God’s Church. God bless you!
Dear Father Coiro,
Later this month, it will be my privilege to attend the consistory in Rome as Pope Francis welcomes fourteen new cardinals into the life of the Church. Reflecting the Holy Father’s focus on the universality of our faith and the diversity of the people of God, the new cardinals come from every corner of the world, including Iraq, Pakistan, Peru, Madagascar and Japan. It is good to know that so many nations and peoples are being invited to new roles of leadership in the Church.
Pope Francis also provided us the gift of an apostolic exhortation earlier this year, Gaudete et exsultate (Rejoice and be glad). In this beautiful reflection he described how we are all called to holiness in every time and place. The Holy Father also noted that we live in the presence of saints, very often those around us, who are a witness to the goodness of the Lord and show true care for the needs of others.
As we enter the summer, it is my hope that we will all have time for rest and renewal as well as the opportunity to consider how God has blessed us. On behalf of all those served by the Archdiocese of Boston’s ministries, thank you for all that you do to generously support the work of our Catholic community.
With the assurance of my prayers for you and all your loved ones, I remain,
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Archbishop of Boston

SAINT MARY’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM JULY 08, 2018
WISDOM FROM THE SAINTS: “If we wish to make
any progress in the service of God we must begin every
day of our life with new eagerness. We must keep
ourselves in the presence of God as much as possible
and have no other view or end in all our actions but the
divine other.” - St. Charles Borromeo
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATIONS ARE
PAST DUE!
IMPORTANT - FAMILY BASE RELIGIOUS
EDUCATION FOR GRADES 3 - 5: Please call the
office (429-6076) to schedule an appointment for your
child’s assessment or Email:[email protected].
PRE-K, KINDERGARTEN AND GRADE 1: Please
contact the R.E. office if you have a child entering these
grades and wish to register your child for religious

Education/Youth Religious Education/Registration” and
download the form. Please note that children must
complete Grade 1 before entering our Grade 2 Program.
VOLUNTEER TEACHERS AND MONITORS ARE
NEEDED FOR THE 2018-2019 R.E. SCHOOL YEAR:
Please consider tithing your time to assist in evangelizing
our children and youth. Since parents are the first to teach
their children about God by their love and example, our
program provides ongoing formation to help the children
and youth live out their faith actively. Consider teaching a
class and partnering with someone. Our program depends
on you! We have openings in all grade levels at this time.
A GRADE-3 COORDINATOR IS NEEDED: We need
someone to volunteer as a Grade 3 Coordinator. The
person who volunteers will be trained. The Grade
Coordinators have a vital role in assisting the DRE and
families. If you can help, please contact Fran Crespi at
[email protected] to find out what the duties
of the coordinators entail. This position needs to be filled
for the 2018-2019 school year.
Please note that R.E. Coordinators and Co-Coordinators
are responsible for guiding and assisting both teachers
and students in growing in their relationship with Christ
and His Church. Since this is done best by example, all
parish coordinators are required to be regularly
practicing members of the St. Mary’s worshipping
community.
COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS: Meets in the Library
on Tuesday, July 17at 7:45 PM.
CONFIRMATION MASSES: Confirmation is scheduled
for Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM and 1:30
PM. Please contact the R.E Office with your chosen
Confirmation Mass time and Certificate Mass choice by
email: [email protected] or at 508-429-6076.
FORMED - PICK OF THE WEEK: The Suitcase is a
story about giving. This is a beautiful tale for the whole
family. Christ said: “unless you turn and become like
children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Mt
18:3). In this animated storybook narration, young
Thomas’s pure heart helps him to see the path to heaven
and inspires his family to join him on the journey. “This is
a delightful story, with a much deeper meaning than what
appears on the surface! I loved it for many reasons, but
especially because it reminded me of several incidents
with some of my own grandchildren” Deborah M,
Laconia, NH
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN (PGC): If you are
18 years of age or older and are volunteering for VBS or
the mission trip to Texas this summer you must take a
PGC Workshop. Please go to: www.virtus.org to find
where the next scheduled workshops are offered.

21 at 10:00 AM. If you can
