Welcome!

A special welcome on this weekend when we recall the amazing Ascension of our Lord. The Ascension reveals that the risen Christ, no longer confined to a human body, is now available to all people in the world no matter where they might be. Therefore, let us joyfully accept the presence of our Savior here and now.

The Ascension of the Lord May 13, 2018 Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary’s of the Lake: Below is an INVITATION CARD we received from the Diocese regarding the Ordination to the priesthood of the three Deacons ~one is Deacon Kyle Sladek, who was with our two parishes last summer:

You may want to plan ahead (to carpool) to be at the Ordination Liturgy to rejoice with & to pray for all the three –particularly ‘father-to-be’ Kyle. This occasion should also prompt us to continue to pray for ‘an increase of those who respond to the call to priesthood, diaconate, and religious life, as well as an increase of happiness in marriage and single life.’ It is to be noted: Deacon Kyle is planning to come up to our Northwoods area and celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving in all of our 4 churches on the weekend of July 7 & 8. As a norm: Toward the end of the Ordination Liturgy, a newly-ordained priest will formally receive an assignment –as an associate pastor (formally called a ‘parochial vicar’) in a parish or to a special ministry.

Fr. Philip

A Novena to Mary in May As part of our Centennial Celebrations we are inviting everyone, men and women, to join us in praying a Novena to Mary. This will begin May 3rd at 9am and continue twice weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 31st. There will be 9 short sessions held at church. A leader and written handouts will guide you through the process. There is also an option to complete at home. The power of prayer has been seen in novena, especially in a communal setting. Special intentions and prayerful requests have been answered through novena.

Centennial Shirt Sale As part of our parishes Centennial Celebration we will be ordering Polo shirts and T shirts. The color will be light blue. Polos will sell for $12.00 and T shirts for $6.00. There is an order sheet available in the back of church. If you are interested in getting a shirt please fill out the information on the order sheet. This will help us know how many of each size to order. Thank you!

A Mother’s Love God must have known there would be times we’d need a gently touch, a tender understanding heart to love us very much. God must have known we’d need someone

to listen to our cares, to comfort and remember us. So in boundless wisdom, God sent us from above the dearest blessing in the world; a mother’s precious love.

Happy Mother’s Day!
