“Let us become saints

so that after having

been together on

earth, we may be

together in Heaven.”

-St. Pio of Pietrelcina

Some Wisdom from

the Saints….

The Solemnity of All Saints on

November 1st celebrates all

saints, those known and un-

known that lived lives marked

by virtue and holiness.

What’s a solemnity?

A solemnity is the highest rank

of a Church feast day. Solemni-

ties honor Jesus and those

closest to him and the work

they did to further the King-

dom of God. All solemnities

are holy days of obligation,

special days where Catholics

attend Mass to praise and

thank God for the feast that is

honored. On November 1st we

honor ALL SAINTS, all of the

holy men and women who are

examples of how we should live

our lives as Christians.

How do you define a Saint?

A Saint is an individual who has

died, whose earthly lived was

marked by holiness. By the

Church’s declaration of an

individual canonization, the

Church acknowledges that the

individual is in Heaven with

God. We ask Saints to pray for

us, confident that they will bring

our prayers to God.

Who can be a Saint?

WE ARE ALL CALLED TO BE

SAINTS. A Saint is an individual

in Heaven with God and God

calls all of us to be in union with

him in Heaven and on Earth.

We are called to live holy lives

and strive for sainthood on

earth so that when we die we

may be united with God and all

the Saint and Angels in Heaven.

All you holy men and

women, pray for us!

We remember our beloved

dead throughout the entire

month of November, Many

practices during the month of

November take place to re-

member the dead, Making

altars with pictures of belong-

ings of loved ones is a tangible

way for us to remember to

pray for those who have died.

Just as we remember all of the

Saints that have gone before us

on All Saints day, we remem-

ber our beloved dead on No-

vember 2nd, All Souls’ day. All

Souls’ day offers a time for us

to pray in particular for our

loved ones who have died as

well as those souls in Purga-

tory.

This month parishioners are in-

vited to bring in photos of loved

ones who have passed to the

Holy Family mosaic in the Church

during the All Souls’ Procession.

Additionally RE students will be

invited to bring pictures of their

loved ones for the altar in the

Parish Hall for the month of No-

vember.

a saint; you must be a

whole saint or no

All you men and women, Saints of God, make intercession for

us.

Be merciful, spare us, O Lord!

Be merciful,

graciously hear us, O Lord!

From all evil, O Lord, deliver us.

From all sin, O Lord, deliver us.

From anger and hatred, O Lord, deliver us.

Through your death and resurrection, O Lord, deliver us.

In the day of judgment,

O Lord, hear us.

That you would forgive us and all those we love,

O Lord, hear us.

That you would grant peace and unity to all,

O Lord, hear us.

That you would give rest to those who have died,

O Lord, hear us.
