Dear Friends in Christ,
February brings the Church the annual monthly devotion: honoring the Holy Family. In Pope Benedict’s
homily at the closing Mass of the VII World Meeting of Families in Milan he said, “You have before you the witness
of so many families who point out the paths for growing in love: by maintaining a constant relationship with God and
participating in the life of the Church, by cultivating dialogue, respecting the other’s point of view, by being ready for
service and patient with the failings of others, by being able to forgive and to seek forgiveness, by overcoming with
intelligence and humility any conflicts that may arise, by agreeing on principles of upbringing, and by being open to
other families, attentive towards the poor, and responsible within civil society.” Family life is essential to the life of the
Church and to society at large. Sadly, family customs that were commonplace are being lost: eating together as a
family, going to Mass as a family, going to confession as a family, recitation of a common family prayer such as the
Holy Rosary or blessing children before bed or before the child departs on a date. The Sacrament of Holy
Matrimony begins the beautiful mystery of God’s love in family life. A woman and man fall in love and have a desire
to support each other, raise children and honor God as a devout Catholic family lived out in charitable works, both
religious and civil. One’s family honor was so important. We not only shamed ourselves by blatantly making
immoral choices, but we were more aware of offending God and our family name. Am I merely daydreaming of a
time long past that ended after the finish of black and white sitcoms? Was life ever that perfect? No. But to strive to
be the best and to glorify God by creating a faith filled family in imitation of the Holy Family is real. It is not
impossible. The very heart of our nation depends on it. Blessed Pope John Paul II said, “The history of mankind, the
history of salvation, passes by way of the family. The family is placed at the center of the great struggle between good
and evil, between life and death, between love and all that is opposed to love.”
God bless you,
Father Szolack
New Family Prayer Crucifix for Vocations
Every Sunday at the 10:00 AM Mass, we will see a
family receive a Crucifix to take home for the week to
pray for vocations to the Holy Priesthood and
Religious Life. It is contained in a beautiful hand-
crafted box which also serves as a stand for the
Crucifix. Prayers to be used by the host family are on
a laminated program in the box. Every weekend the
host family will return the Crucifix in procession and
a new host family will receive it at the end of Mass.
Sister Vilma is the crucifix for vocations coordinator.
Let us pray for holy vocations to religious life from
our parish. If you are praying over a pos-
sible calling, please speak to Father
Szolack.

Jesus’ name. Amen
“A HOLY HOUR TO PRAY FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD AND RELIGIOUS LIFE”
The Office of Vocations has scheduled Holy Hours for Vocations called First Thursdays throughout our dio-
cese. Every month, a different deanery will host a Holy Hour to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and
religious life. Our deanery’s Holy Hour will be on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St. Vincent Pallotti Church, St. Jo-
seph the Worker Parish, Haddon Township, beginning at 7:00 PM. “Pray…pray…pray to the master of the harvest to
send out laborers for his harvest.” Please come – your presence and your prayers are most important to this cause as
we all work together in the work of vocations.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL
This weekend, February 2nd & 3rd we
will be running our personal care drive.
Very often in these difficult economic
times when people are forced to
choose between food and personal care items, food wins
out and personal care falls by the wayside. By collecting
and distributing these items we may be able to eliminate
the need to make that choice. Items we are hoping to
collect are laundry detergent, deodorant, toothpaste,
toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and feminine care prod-
ucts, etc. We can also use travel sizes and the small
complimentary hotel bottles of all of the above
items. All donations may be left in the back of either of
our churches in the St. Vincent de Paul bins. Thank you
for the kindness and generosity that we can always
count on from the Infant Jesus parishioners. You all are
in our prayers and the prayers of our clients and the re-
cipients of your donations. God Bless You.
