The St. Louis Blues 14 Fund, the charitable trust of the St. Louis Blues, has a mission to positively impact programs and services that improve the health and wellness of youth in the St. Louis area.

The trust was created in 1998 to honor former Blues player Doug Wickenheiser, #14, who passed away after a long battle with cancer in early 1999.

The Blues 14 Fund focuses on four areas of giving, which include cancer care and awareness, health and wellness, education and youth hockey development. Thanks to members of the Blues family, including our fans, community partners, players, alumni and staff, the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund has contrib-uted more than $2.5 million to the St. Louis community.

Special thanks to the Board of Trustees for their timeand dedication to the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund.

Hockey FigHts cancerThe Blues raised more than $25,000 during Hockey Fights Cancer™ Night and Pink at the Rink Breast Cancer Awareness Nightin October.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Be the Match took part in Hockey Fights Cancer Night and received proceeds from a special silent auction, while Friends of Kids with Cancer received proceeds from a one-of-a-kind Brett Hull statue raffle to fund brain tumor support groups. In addition, the Blues selected the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Friends of Kids with Cancer to each receive a $5,000 NHL Hockey Fights Cancer grant.

The Blues and Saint Louis University Hospital teamed up for the 4th Annual Pink at the Rink Breast Cancer Awareness Night to raise money for Komen for the Cure St. Louis. Many survivors attended the game as guests of the Blues and were recognized during the game.

Blues players supported this initiative throughout October by wearing a Hockey Fights Cancer decal on their helmet, and the entire team wore pink laces in their skates during Hockey Fights Cancer week-end. Players also visited area hospitals, while coaches, broadcasters and manage-ment wore a commemorative Hockey Fights Cancer tie during a select game to show their support.

Flashes oF hopeThe St. Louis Blues and Blues 14 Fund are proud to bring Flashes of Hope to St. Louis Children's Hospital patients who are battling cancer and other life threatening illnesses. Flashes of Hope officially kicked off in October 2010 with some help from Blues players that participated in a photo shoot with the children. The project is funded through a grant from the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund and is operated by Blues wives and girlfriends. Diana Davidson, wife of Blues president John Davidson, is leading the group as the volunteer chapter director.

Flashes of Hope is a national nonprofit organization that creates uplifting portraits of children fighting cancer and other life threatening illnesses, and raises money for pediatric cancer research. Every month, the oncology floor at St. Louis Children's Hospital turns into a photo studio, complete with professional photographers and make-up artists. Families photographed receive a generous portrait package, all free of charge.

The photographs, taken by award winning photographers, help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it. For families of terminally ill children, it is especially important to have a portrait that pre-serves forever the bravery, grace and dignity of their child.

Special thanks to these photographers that generously donated their time in support of Flashes of Hope: Mark Beaven, John Fedelle, Briggs Fisher, Rebecca Haas, Jaclyn Jezik, Mark Katzman, Jason Patrylo, Rick Rovak, Bill Sawalich, Dilip Vishwanat. Thank you to make-up artists Kathy Morrison and Mandy McKenna for also donating their time and services to Flashes of Hope.
