463. How should authority be exercised in the various spheres of civil society? Authority should always be exercised as a service, respecting fundamental human rights, a just hierarchy of values, laws, distributive justice, and the principle of subsidiarity. All those who exercise authority should seek the interests of the community before their own interest and allow their decisions to be inspired by the truth about God, about man and about the world. Updates from Fr Brandon

Saint Leo reopening: Bishop Medley has given permission for public Masses to resume in our diocese. Here at Saint Leo, we will resume with a "soft" gradual reopening as we try to work our way into the "new normal" of life in church during this pandemic. We will have a temporary revised Mass schedule as we work our way up to normal. The revised Mass schedule at St Leo will be: Sundays 8:00 am and 11:00 am (bilingual), Wednesdays 6:00 pm, and Fridays 8:00 am. There will be no Saturday evening Masses for the time being, and no daily Mass other than Wednesday and Friday. The daily Masses on Wednesdays and Fridays will include the prayers, readings, and homily from the Sunday Mass. This means there will be 4 opportunities to hear the same Sunday Mass at various times throughout the week. In order to accommodate people with the limited seating capacity, if you are inclined to attend Mass, please attend only 1 time during the week. Again this schedule is temporary until further notice. However, there is a dispensation from the Sunday obligation until further notice. No one is required to return at this time. Please stay home if you are elderly or have medical conditions. We will have limited seating capacity at each mass, and once the capacity is reached we cannot admit more people. The diocese is also requiring everyone who attends Mass to wear their face masks for the entirety of Mass. Anyone age 2 and above, adults and children included, are required to wear their masks. If anyone cannot or will not wear their mask for Mass, they will be told to return home. Also, we will continue recording the Sunday 11:00 am Mass and posting it on Saint Leo's Facebook and YouTube pages until further notice. You may also participate in Sunday Masses broadcast and streamed on EWTN with your cable or satellite provider as well as www.ewtn.com and with Bishop Barron at his website www.wordonfire.org. Also, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available at this time by appointment only. Please call the parish office or drop Fr. Brandon an email to make an appointment. We continue to hold one another in prayer during these difficult times. Know that I pray for you daily!

Upcoming Faith Formation Activities

The St. Leo Faith Formation Team is excited to offer new faith formation opportunities! From virtual to in person, we have something for everyone.

Ponder in Your Heart Women's Book Study will be virtually offering "Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist" on Thursday evenings

beginning June, 4 at 5:30 . This video series explores the truth and beauty of Christ's real presence in the Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members. It is the crescendo of the entire story of salvation.

St. Leo Men's Study Group will be virtually offering "Lectio: Evangelization with Dr. Mary Healy" on Wednesday evenings beginning June, 17 at 7:30. Dr. Mary Healy combines insightful biblical study with Church teaching and practical advice to show how modern Catholics can effectively impact their world for Jesus Christ.

Coming Soon.... In person, small group faith formation. Be on the lookout for these opportunities as well as a book study with Fr. Brandon!

Please contact Megan Bell at the parish office 270-753-3876 or [email protected] if you are interested in joining any of these faith formation opportunities!

SAINT ROMUALD (c. 951-1027)

June 19

“God so loved the world,” declares John 3:16. “Do not love the world,” warns 1 John 2:15. The “world” to love: this planet, entrusted to our stewardship, and its people, God’s children all. The “world” to flee: “sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life” (1 John 2:16). Born in nobility, Romuald’s conversion followed the shock of witnessing his father murder an enemy. Renouncing his privileged world, Romuald sought God’s world in monastic life. Its winding turns and several dead ends make Romuald’s journey resonate with all who find life more maze than superhighway. Both the hermit’s solitary struggle and community life’s unique challenges shaped Romuald’s legacy: his vast Camaldolese Benedictine family of monks, nuns, and lay associates who, these thousand years later, from the mountain solitude of Camaldoli, Italy to an urban monastery in Berkeley, California—in Asia, Africa, South America, Europe—integrate Romuald’s experience into their witness of solitary prayer, communal charity and worship, and promotion of contemplative spirituality in this world that can so easily distract us from the God who loves it still.
