Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaid-ed. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Lord, Hear our Prayer.

Today we are at the fiftieth day of the Easter celebration: seven weeks of seven days, a week of weeks, now culminating in a festival fiftieth day. While the liturgical color of the Easter season is gold, on this last day we have red. For the first thousand years of the church, there were no firm rules for using colors. Only wealthy churches could afford a full array of colors, and most places used the best vestments, no matter the color, for the greatest feasts. The Church spelled out an exact plan for color, including red for Pentecost, only in 1570, but local differences held on until the 1800s. Color experts tell us that red is a hot color, best used for fast-paced, upbeat, active experiences. It is hard to be neutral before

red, as any matador will tell you. It invites commitment, draws you in. It is a stimulat-ing color, engaging the eye, stirring hunger. It is the most fitting color for this day when we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit into our lives, a dynamic presence over-turning neutrality in favor of passion and commitment. —James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copy-right © J. SUMMER BINGO IS BACK! Saturday July 13 and Saturday August 3 at 5 PM

The Playground committee is hosting summer bingo. All proceeds will be going to offset the cost of the of the playground. The playground will be on the corner of Jewett and Holly Streets. St Laurence school children are very excited to have their very own playground (one that they do not have to share with a parking lot). We are hoping that you will share in their excitement and join us for Bingo over the sum-mer. Hope to see you there. Thank you for your continuing support.

As the 2018-2019 school year drew to a close, it was bitter sweet. One of the true marks of a great school is when the staff, even through challenging times, stays because of their love and dedication. This week we said goodbye to Kathy Laudont and Pam Collins who were members of the St. Laurence School community for 32 years. Thank you is not enough to express our gratitude for the mark you have made on our school. You will be missed! Happy retirement! Thank you to our 7th grade, PTC, teachers, and volunteers for a fun-filled last day of school for our students! Finally, I would like to say thank you to all of you. Three years ago when I joined the St. Laurence family, you welcomed me with open arms. I immediately felt like part of the family and I cannot tell you how much that means to me. I will forever be a Tiger and am grateful for your love and support. St. Laurence will always be in my prayers!

“A house blessing” For some people it is customary to make a house blessing during the Easter season, other people like to make it just when they buy a new house, and some others when they think there is something wrong with the house. As you can see there are many different motivations, but only one reason: the personal invitation to God to be part of a household. Whenever I am invited to lead prayers for the blessing of a house, I start reading psalm 127 (126). It is a beautiful psalm that reminds us that God protects and builds up our family. We may build a palace or a castle, but if it is not God the center of our families that palace or castle would mean nothing. It is God who protects and gives meaning to our lives, for this reason in a blessing of a house we invite him to be our guest. The feast of Pentecost reminds us that just as in a house blessing Jesus is received, so in this feast we renew the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we invite God to continue leading our lives and illuminating our ways with the grace of the Holy Spirit. In baptism we have already re-ceived the Holy Spirit, so in Pentecost we renew his always new presence. In fact, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, a dwelling place where God comes and meets man. Our vocation, also, has to be renewing every day. Particularly our ‘yes’ to God has to be every day and every moment, just as in a house blessing, God is invited to come and dwell within it, so we pray every day asking God’s help to make the best decisions in our lives. May the presence of the Holy Spirit leads and renews our vocations.

Humeral Veil - is worn to cover the back and shoulders and its two ends hang down in front. It is fastened across the chest with clasps attached to the bor-der. The humeral veil is usually worn over the cope and is worn in processions of the Blessed Sacrament,

in Giving Benediction, in carrying the Host to its repository on Holy Thursday and bringing it back to the altar on Good Friday. In processions of the Blessed Sacrament and at Benediction given with the monstrance, only the hands are placed under the humeral veil; in other cases, it covers the sacred vessel with contains the Host. The humeral veil is usually and properly some shade of white.
