Please Make Your Gi to the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal “Come, Follow Me…and share the Word”

This weekend, our parish will be conduc ng the Annual Catholic Appeal in-pew Commitment Weekend. Please remember that the Annual Catholic Appeal is much different than a one- me special collec on. It is a pledge campaign where you can make a gi payable in installments.

The Annual Catholic Appeal theme, “Come, Follow Me…and Share the Word,” was selected to remind us to con nue to answer Jesus’ call to follow Him in thought, word and deed by providing the necessary contribu on to fund ministries and services to share God’s love with many others in our Parish and our Archdiocese.

Each pledge makes a difference! All parishes communi es par cipate in the campaign and the gi s of many enable our parishes, schools, and ministries to deliver needed services. Thank you for your prayerful considera on and generous response.

Este fin de semana, nuestra parroquia llevará a cabo desde las bancas de nuestro templo el denominado Fin de Semana de Compromiso de la Campaña Católica Anual. Por favor, recuerde que la Campaña Católica Anual es muy diferente de una colecta especial que ocurre una sola vez. Esta es una campaña de compromisos para donar, a través de la cual usted puede hacer un dona vo a pagar en plazos.

El tema de la Campaña Católica Anual, "Ven, sígueme... y comparte la Palabra" fue elegido para animarnos a responder al llamado que nos hace Jesús a seguirlo en pensamiento, palabra y acción. Nos recuerda que una manera de realizar dicho llamado es contribuir para financiar los ministerios y servicios que nos ayudan a compar r el amor de Dios con muchos otros en nuestra Parroquia y en nuestra Arquidiócesis.

¡Cada compromiso hace una diferencia! Todas las comunidades parroquiales par cipan en la campaña y los dona vos de muchos permiten que nuestras parroquias, escuelas y ministerios presten los servicios necesarios. Gracias por su devota consideración y generosa respuesta.

A few weeks ago, Fr. Michael talked about each of us receiving different gi s from God, and that we are to use those gi s to serve others. If you s ll remember those words, it might mean God is talking to you, and you need to take me to listen. Take the me to think about the Mass and what really strikes your heart. Do you get moved by the word of God? Is it being able to receive the precious Body and Blood of Jesus

weekly? Are you moved by the dedica on of our ministers in serving one another? If you answered yes to the ques ons above YOUR PARISH COULD USE YOUR HELP. We are in need of Eucharis c Ministers and Lectors. If you wondered how to get involved in this ministry, talk to Fr. Michael or any of the Eucharis c Ministers and Lectors. They will help guide you, so you can use the gi God gave you. There is a training on the how to’s in our parish and then a one half day enrichment class that will be held in April. We ask that you think and pray about serving in this ministry. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the ministers. Any ques ons you have will gladly be answered.

Ordina on Bann Rajan Fernando, a parishioner of St. Joseph Parish, is scheduled to be ordained to the Order of Deacon on May 11, 2019 at Holy Name Cathedral by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago. This is a public announcement of the upcoming ordina on and fulfills the canonical requirement. Catholics are obliged to reveal any concerns, impediments or circumstances that could prevent Rajan Fernando from receiving Sacred Orders and should contact the pastor or the Cardinal with such informa on as soon as possible if there is a serious ques on about the candidate’s suitability for ordained ministry.
