Flocknote

Though it might seem that St. Joseph is simply jumping on the bandwagon of a new trend to use the term ‘faith formation’ to refer to religious education, the rise in use of this term is not simply a trend and St. Joseph is looking to go far beyond the “trend.”

You might have noticed that St. Joseph is beginning to use ‘Faith Formation’ to describe some of our ministries, but what exactly is ‘faith formation’?

First and foremost, ‘faith formation’ should not be considered as a synonym for ‘religious education.’ Faith formation goes far beyond the classroom. Though religious education is crucial, it is only one aspect of forming the faith. Faith formation is the creation of disciples and, therefore, must include the whole person. Through opportunities to gain further understanding of scripture and faith traditions, deepen your spirituality, be in relationship with our faith community, serve others, and grow in your relationship with God, St. Joseph’s Faith Formation programs seek to form the whole person, creating disciples of Christ.

There are no age restrictions on the call to discipleship.
