God of life and of the living, when life is good, it can be easy to remain faithful to you. But when dark clouds appear and life feels shaky my faith can waver. Help me turn to you at all times. Keep before me images of those who have been faithful to you in the face of persecution and death. Help me trust your promise to strengthen and guard me from the evil one. Living the Word

Marian Fuchs Endowment Marian Fuchs taught at St. John Vianney School for over 20 years. Marian passed away on August 26, 2016. She was beloved by students and faculty. Her husband, Mark, remains a member of our parish. In November, 2016, Marian’s Endowment for SJV School was opened through the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Washington. Income generated by the funds will assure the future of our school and at first be used for text books, and teaching materials. Thanks to many generous contributions from parish and school families, friends, and relatives, Marian’s Endowment has reached $190,000. We prayerfully request that you help us reach our immediate goal of $250,000. Please look for your postcard in the mail. Donation options include texting 84576 and typing FOUNDATION in the message, going to: www.spokanecatholicfoundation.com/online-giving, or by mailing a check to the foundation. Thank you, the Endowment Committee.

As always, thank you for your generous support of the parish school. Deacon Nick Senger, Principal

Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time Reflecting on the Word Jesus states that God is a God of the living. All people are alive to God. The Resurrection is not just about future life. It is also about current life, which will be transformed in life beyond the world as we know it. God journeys with us and will help us negotiate life here and hereafter, if we allow God to give us direction and hope. A prayer attributed to St. Francis de Sales tells us not to look forward to what might happen tomorrow, because the same everlasting God who cares for us today will take care of us tomorrow and every day. God will shield us from suffering or will give us unfailing strength to bear it. Stay close to Jesus. Find God’s strength within you no matter what. Even death will not separate us from the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
