On behalf of your fellow parishioners I want to thank all of you who this weekend of Au-gust 24-25 will volunteer for one or more of our St. John ministries. Please know how much we value your active participation in St. John Parish.

During this three week Stewardship of Ministry process, I have asked you to select the ministry area(s) in which you feel the most gifted or the most interested. However, in case you are still undecided as to which area(s) to choose, I would encourage you to consider one

of three ministries for which we have the biggest area of need. First of all, we are very much in need of ushers, particularly females, at all of our Masses (sign-up sheet #304.). We can, of course, invite non-ushers to help with collections, but we especially need greeters who will staff the front and back doors before and after each Mass. Also our parish youth do help assist at the Sunday 6pm Mass but, for their safety, we need adults to accompany them as they transfer funds from the offertory baskets to the deposit vault. Please remember none of the Ten Commandments stipulate that the ministry of usher should be limited to older gentlemen. Secondly, we would very much like to supplement the small number of volunteers who visit our neighbor-ing prisons of LCIW and Hunt Correctional. By and large the inmates who join us for Faith sharing, Friday or Saturday Mass or cell block Communions are the ones trying to make something of their lives (sign- up sheet #510-515). Thirdly, we would love to resume our nursery service during the 9:30 Sunday Mass. We need high school students to help with the little ones, but we also need adults to supervise the students. How often you serve depends how many volunteers we can gather. (sheet #203 and 204) We invite you to allow these three, or any of our St. John ministries, to serve as a means by which you re-turn God’s love to Him. After all, look at all He gives to us.
