CHURCH CALENDAR & MASS INTENTIONS

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time: In the first line of the first reading we hear God tell Mo-ses, “Be holy, for I, the Lord, your God, am holy”. Then in the last line of the Gospel Jesus tells his disciples, “Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect”. How’s that for a challenge? Not only are we told to be holy, we are told to be perfect! The truth is that we can be neither without God’s help. Listening to today’s readings, not how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit can perfect in us their earthly dwelling. Séptimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario: En el primer renglón de la primera lectura oímos a Dios decirle a Moisés: “Sean santos, porque yo, el Señor, soy santo”. Luego en el ultimo ren-glón del Evangelio Jesús le dice a sus discípulos: “Sean perfectos, como su Padre celestial es perfecto”. Les parece eso un buen desafío? No solo se nos dice que seamos santo, sino que seamos perfectos! Lo cierto es que no podemos ser ninguna de las dos cosas sin la ayuda de Dios. Al escuchar las lecturas de hoy pongamos atención a como el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo pueden perfeccionar en nosotros su morada terrenal.

When we give to those in need, God indeed pours his love, peace and joy into our hearts and into our lives. Scholarships. The Knights of Columbus will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors that are active members of St. John. The application must be completed and submitted to the Marble Falls Education Foundation by March 1. Contact the Parish Office for more information.

JESUS: the Way, the Truth and the Life . A 10 week DVD Study Program will begin Monday, February 24 at 7 pm in the House of Mary. The DVD presenters are Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Jeff Cravins, and Dr.Edward Sri. This study was filmed in the Holy Land, so Catholics will expe-rience the extraordinary world in which Jesus lived and taught—the historical context, the politics, the clashing cultures, the history, and the ancient land– and see where the most significant events of his life took place, from his infancy to his ascension. Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry. Each Friday of Lent from 5:30pm—7:30 pm. begin-ning February 28, On the menu: Fried or Baked Fish, coleslaw, beans, hushpuppies, French fires, sweet potato fries, dessert, and a drink. All this for $10 for adults and $7 for children.
