These take into consideration how to best proceed under these unusual circumstances while remaining pastorally sensitive to the People of God and adhering to restrictions issued by the State of Ohio. The guidance provided aims to clarify how such spiritual care can be responsibly offered to the faithful during this period and have been formulated with great care to preserve and respect the powerful liturgical and sacramental symbolism of the rites of the Mass. These directives/guidelines currently remain in effect by order of Bishop Murry and will be revised or changed should any further directives be issued by the Governor of Ohio, the Bishops of Ohio, or Bishop Murry. They are considered to be temporary until it is determined safe to return to the normal circumstances. Please Note, The dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass, especially those who are sick or at high risk of becoming sick will remain in effect until further notice. The following are specific Directives and Guidelines for St Joan of Arc Parish It is imperative that social distancing be practiced before during and after Mass. Families may sit together, however there must be 6 feet between families or individual parishioners in a pew. Look for tape marking in the open pews to help determine proper distancing. The cry room and the bathroom in it will be closed until further notice. Only two people will be allowed in the sacristy and each bathroom at one time. Please do not congregate in the narthex or other meeting areas before or after Mass. Please feel free to visit in our outdoor spaces. For the sake and consideration of the health and safety of our parish family, it is strongly advised that everyone in attendance wear a mask. All Eucharistic Ministers must wear a mask while distributing Communion. Hymnals, Missalettes and other such materials have been removed from the church. A worship aid with prayers, songs and other information will be handed out as you enter the church. These worship aides can only be used at one Mass so we ask that after Mass you take your worship aid with you and dispose of it in the provided recycle bin as you exit. The collection baskets will not be passed during Mass, although we would appreciate you giving an offering. Instead there will be stationary baskets in the entrance ways where you may drop in your offering. It is highly encouraged and strongly recommended that the reception of Holy Communion be given in the hand. Holy Communion is not to be distributed with gloves, nor may it be received in the hand with gloves. For the distribution of Communion there will be four Eucharistic Ministers available (please note, for his safety, Fr. Chris will not be distributing Communion). Until further notice there will be no distribution of the Precious Blood. Those sitting in the two center sections will exit in the center aisle (opposite the side they would normally come out) and proceed up to the minister staying close to the pews. Those who sit in the side aisles will move forward in regular fashion center keeping in mind distance and close to the pews. When processing forward to receive Communion, please leave one pews length between you and the person in front of you. When approaching the Eucharistic Minister while wearing a mask, we ask that you pull your mask down, bow your head in normal fashion, receive Holy Communion in your hand, replace your mask after receiving and move back to your pew. Weekday Masses will resume on Tuesday May 26 th at 8:30 am in the main church (center sections only). The chapel will remain closed for now for weekday celebrations. Confessions are offered by appointment only until further notice. If you have any questions regarding the directive and guidelines, please call our office ay 330-626-3424, or the Office of Worship at the Diocese at 330-744-8451 EXT 282. Dear Friends, We are pleased that we are resuming Mass here at SJOA the weekend of May 30/31 (the Feast of Pentecost – please wear RED). For the safety of everyone the diocese has given all parishes specific directives that we are to follow. Our staff has discussed how these directives will be implemented in our community. Please read the directives below so that you have an understanding of what to expect when we return to Mass. We will all need to be patient and understanding as we navigate forward with these directives so that we can celebrate Mass in the safest way possible WOW, thank you to everyone who drove by this past Wednesday evening to say “Hello” to me. Your love and support are so very much appreciated. Thank you as well for the cards, gifts, posters and cookies that you gave me. This really made my year. I am looking forward to when we will all be together as one for the celebration of the Eucharist. Until then, stay safe and I will keep everyone in my prayers. Fr. Chris 6th Sunday of Easter Something to Think About - Diversity and Unity The founders of any endeavor cannot expect their work to be lasting and to continue unless their disciples accept the message wholeheartedly. Those disciples must be faithful to the traditions of the founder and have an open mind for the intuitive vision concerning the future of the particular work. Guided by the spirit of the founder, those who continue the work must work creatively, constantly adapting themselves to new situations. This is what the early church has tried to do as we see in the readings from Acts of the Apostles this weekend. We should accept this same situation in the church of our time and culture. Let us bear with one another during these difficult times, as long as the same Spirit breathes upon all under the guidance of our bishops. Your SJOA Faith Family
