Dear Parishioners, Friends and Visitors,

As we prepare to celebrate the great event of our salvation, I pray that we approach this HOLY DAY with hearts and minds centered on that wondrous love that Christ showed us, in His great sacrifice.

We should be just as inspired and jubilant by the presence of the Risen Lord as those early disciples who first saw the empty tomb. Like them, we will know that Jesus is not found among the dead. He is truly alive and present among us gathered to commemorate His paschal mystery. He is made present, particularly in the Gospel proclaimed and in the bread broken and shared.

The season of Lent provided us the turning point to entrust our lives to Christ who through the Church gathers disciples, heals the sick, reconciles sinners and calls us to service. In the Church’s outreach, it is the hand of Jesus that lifts up the poor, feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless and visits the confined. In these ways, and many others, we give witness to the mystery of Jesus raised from the dead. Indeed, we become the living Body of Christ for the world.

This Easter mystery cannot be lived in isolation. It is lived in a community bonded in love and charity. This is most eminent every Sunday when the community of believers gathers around the table of the Lord to celebrate the Eucharist and to reaffirm our belief in the Risen Lord.

Thus, the body of Christ here at St. Jerome welcomes and invites all to celebrate, in classical terms, “the Source and the Summit of our Christian faith”. With joy and gratitude, let us grab our hymnals and join our voices to sing, ALLELUIA, CHRIST IS RISEN!

If you would like to explore joining us in the Catholic faith or possibly learning more about your Catholic faith, please call the parish office at 254-666-7722, or visit with one of our host ministers. Regardless of your faith traditions, we wish you and your family and friends the joy of Easter and transformation of life in the Risen Christ!

With love and gratitude,

Rev. James Ekeocha

Pastor

TOPICS FOR THE CLASS ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24

Conversion Conversion is the ever present call of the already committed Christian to grow both in the faith and in the living of it. It means deepening our relationship with God and our fellow Christians. Conversion is a lifelong process. It encompasses the stages of development we naturally go through in our lifetimes. As we become progressively more open to God’s presence in our lives we become more sensitive and responsive to the needs of others.

The Laity A lay person is an adopted child of God, a sister or brother of Jesus, and an heir to God’s wealth of grace and life eternal, called to build God’s kingdom here on earth. Since, like all the Christian faithful, lay persons are designated by God for the apostolate through baptism and confirmation, they are bound by the general obligation and possess the right to work so that the divine message of salvation is made known and accepted by all persons everywhere in the world.

Altar Server News Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled mass. Dress & meet in the vestry 5 minutes before mass to receive a blessing from Fr. James. If you are unable to serve, please find a replacement. Contact info: Marian Khoury or Kristina Neal at [email protected] or [email protected]
