My Dear Parishioners,
May is the month of Mary. During this month, both in church and in the privacy of the home, we traditionally of-
fer to the Blessed Mother from our hearts a loving prayer of homage and veneration. We honor Mary especially at this time by praying her rosary. We also often associate this time of the year with special events such as May Crownings and processions in honor of the Queen of Heaven. This year our devotion to Mother of our Lord takes on a spe-cial meaning, as many of us have already been turning to her for her in-tercession at this time of COVID-19.
This past Friday, May 1, our Bishop, together with all the Bishops of the United States, re-consecrated our Dioceses to Mary the Mother of the Church. Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has encouraged families most especially to pray the rosary during this month. He noted that re-strictions in many parts of the world due to the virus “have made us come to appreciate all the more the family aspect, also from a spiritual point of view.” He encourages us to prayer for all those affected by the present situation, especially those who are infected, their caregivers, and all who are “on the frontline” of this pandemic.
The Holy Father also presents us with two prayers. He proposes that these prayers can be recited at the end of the rosary. The first of those prayers was previously composed by Pope Francis and we have been including it on our parish website and weekly bulletin since mid-March. The second prayer is more specific in bringing to Mary the needs of all those who have been most deeply affected by this terrible crisis. Both of those prayers are presented in this bulletin.
I would like to join my voice to those of Pope Francis and Bishop Schlert in encouraging you to turn to Mary in a special way at this time of trial. Indeed, we believe “that never was it known that anyone who fled to her protection, implored her help, or sought her intercession was left unaided.” Inspired by this confidence let us turn to our Blessed Mother, during this, her special month.
Sincerely yours,
Monsignor Radocha

Marian Prayer
"We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God."
In the present tragic situation, when the whole world is prey to suffering and anxie-ty, we fly to you, Mother of God and our mother, and seek refuge under your protec-tion.
Virgin Mary, turn your merciful eyes toward us amid this coronavirus pandemic. Comfort those who are distraught and mourn their loved ones who have died, and at times are buried in a way that grieves them deeply. Be close to those who are concerned for their loved ones who are sick and who, in order to prevent the spread of the disease, cannot be close to them. Fill with hope those who are troubled by the uncertainty of the future and the consequences for the economy and employ-ment.
Mother of God and our Mother, pray for us to God, the father of mercies, that this great suffering may end and that hope and peace may dawn anew. Plead with your divine Son, as you did at Cana, so that the families of the sick and the victims be comforted, and their hearts be opened to confidence and trust.
Protect those doctors, nurses, health workers and volunteers who are on the front-line of this emergency, and are risking their lives to save others. Support their hero-ic effort and grant them strength, generosity and continued health.
Be close to those who assist the sick night and day, and to priests who, in their pas-toral concern and fidelity to the Gospel, are trying to help and support everyone.
Blessed Virgin, illumine the minds of men and women engaged in scientific re-search, that they may find effective solutions to overcome this virus.
Support national leaders, that with wisdom, solicitude and generosity they may come to the aid of those lacking the basic necessities of life and may devise social and economic solutions inspired by farsightedness and solidarity.
Mary Most Holy, stir our consciences, so that the enormous funds invested in devel-oping and stockpiling arms will instead be spent on promoting effective research on how to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
Beloved Mother, help us realize that we are all members of one great family and to recognize the bond that unites us, so that, in a spirit of fraternity and solidarity, we can help to alleviate countless situations of poverty and need. Make us strong in faith, persevering in service, constant in prayer.
Mary, Consolation of the afflicted, embrace all your children in distress and pray that God will stretch out his all-powerful hand and free us from this terrible pandem-ic, so that life can serenely resume its normal course.
To you, who shine on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope, do we entrust ourselves, O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary. Amen.

Prayer for Frontline Work-ers During Pandemic
Loving God, we place into your care all of the frontline workers during this pandemic. Give them courage of heart & strength of mind & body. Keep them safe from harm. May they know our deep gratitude for all they are doing to help others.
God of all consolation may they know your protection and peace. Bless them in these challenging days and bless their families.
Amen.
Jesus, we trust in You!

Marian Prayer During Epidemic O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,
who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.
Under your protection, we seek ref-uge, Holy Mother of God. Do not dis-dain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.”

Academic Excellence in Spanish Classes! Expanding Horizons with Spanish: Teaching Spanish to students from Pre-K through 8
th grade is no easy task, but the student engagement at
St. Jane School is outstanding. Our goal is to introduce students to a second language in a fun, engaging manner that allows them to learn through song, games and traditional teaching meth-ods. We live in a global, multilingual world and, exposing the students to a new language and highlighting cultural differences will ultimately help young people navigate the cultural diversity present in the communities where they live today and in the future.
Our pre-kindergarteners, kindergarteners and first graders are learning Spanish through song, while the second and third graders are working to spell their colors, numbers, and days of the week. The fourth and fifth graders are learning the concepts of yesterday, today and tomorrow, and are expanding their vocabulary by playing Spanish Vocab Bingo in class. Our sixth, seventh and eighth graders have been introduced to the book series Bizcocho, also known as Biscuit, as they are challenged to read aloud in class to build confidence in speaking a second language.
At St. Jane School, we know that Spanish is more than learning a foreign language and embrac-ing cultural diversity. We recognize that prayer and song are an integral part of the Catholic faith. Therefore, all students at St. Jane’s are learning the Hail Mary and the Our Father in Spanish as well as the chorus to songs like Lord, You Have Come/Pescador de Hombres that are then sung on occasion at Mass during the week.
