As part of the Year of Mercy, the Diocese of Calgary invites you to re-discover the meaning of the sacrament of Reconciliation in your life. In addition to the regular parish schedule, the sacrament of Reconciliation will be available at parishes throughout the Diocese of Calgary all the Wednesdays of Advent from 7:30 – 8:30pm.
November 29th: First Sunday
of Advent
Today’s gospel reminds us that the
weight of sin and the worries of this life
are a trap. That undercurrent of
uneasiness, that vague feeling of
unworthiness or that persistent gnawing
of regret keeps us from knowing God’s
peace. In the words of absolution spoken at the end of the
sacrament of Reconciliation, the priest says “may God give you
pardon and peace”. Discover God’s peace, a peace that comes
from leaving your sin behind, being made free, and being
reconciled to the Lord. Action: In Advent, prepare not only for
the coming of Jesus at Christmas and at the end of time but
especially for the coming of our Saviour each day.
On Wednesday, Dec. 2nd
10-11:30am, St. James
Mom's group will be
having a Christmas
baking "Make and
Take". This will be a
morning of fellowship and an attempt to
stock up on a variety of Christmas
baking. If everyone can bring a few
dozen (or whatever you can muster) of a
particular Christmas baking treat, then
on that day we each can take home a
potpourri of everyone's baking!
Join us every week in the
Chapel at
St. James Church,
a half hour before 11:00
AM Sunday Mass
and a half hour before each
Mass, on
Tuesdays, Thursdays &
Saturdays. *Reminder: The
Divine Mercy
Chaplet will be sung
during Adoration
Tues, Dec 8th after
7pm Mass for the
Jubilee of Mercy.*

We have just had two very successful events. Thanks to all the ladies of the parish who provided baking for our Christmas Bake Sale held last Sunday, November 22nd, 2015. We had lots of lovely baking
and some crafts. All was sold and the proceeds will go to charities in the vicinity. Thank you all very much! It is so nice to see such a good response and definitely thanks to all the buyers, as well. The second occasion was our Annual Christmas Potluck held last night, Wednesday, November 25th, 2015. We had a huge turnout, lovely food, donated door prizes, and a raffle of some beautiful baskets. Many ladies from the parish and their guests had a lovely evening… Our next regular
meeting will be held on January 12th, 2016;
mark your calendars. We wish you all a very Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you so much for your continued support!

Just for Fun! A mother with a fidgety 7-year old boy told me
how she finally got her son to sit still and be quiet. About halfway through the sermon, she leaned over and whispered, “if you don’t be quiet, Father is going to lose his place and will have to start his sermon all over again!” *Taken from the

Socks of Joy:
A beautiful Advent project for you and your family. Please collect much needed items along with a man’s pair of warm socks. Now stuff it with love by adding the spare sock rolled up and then the toiletries. Children’s drawings are always appreciated as well as notes wishing the recipient, God’s blessings, during the Christmas season. When socks are ready, gather as a family and say a prayer for the person that will receive your Sock of Joy. Then bring the sock to church and deposit in the collection basket.
