Artist Of The WeekArtist Of The WeekArtist Of The WeekArtist Of The Week Chloe Grothaus: 4th Grade

Project: Yarn Painting Objective:Chloe and her classmates learned about the Huichol Indians and how they used yarn painting for decorative purposes. They used beeswax, honey and tree bark to create their decorative designs. The fourth grade students practiced drawing their cho-sen objects in their sketchbooks, looking closely at line direction, texture, color and pattern. Once Chloe had decided upon her subject matter, a beautiful bird, she then used glue and yarn to create her “painting”. Chloe used the LIFESKILLS of Patience and Perseverance on her yarn paint-ing. Be sure to check out Chloe’s beautiful yarn painting on display in our front hall-way this week!

Go Green for God

Earth Day Celebration Monday, April 22nd, we will once again celebrate Earth Day

at St. James! This is a fun way to show our stewardship for

the classrooms in regards to how we can impact our homes,

school and communities to be more environmentally friendly

to our earth. The students are allowed to be out of uniform

with a donation that will go to the upkeep and additions of the

outdoor classrooms and Grandparent’s Day. Additional infor-

mation will be in your child’s classroom newsletters. Students

may bring an “earth-friendly” cold lunch or have hot lunch as
