Food For the Hungry

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And re-member the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' Acts 20:35 We thank you for your food donations, please continue to help: canned food, oil, peanut but-ter, green and yellow vegetables. Drop them at the Rectory. It truly feels good when we are able to help so many . “God loves a cheerful giver.” Each time we give to some-one we are giving to Christ.

DESPERATION

UNIDAD

La unión hace la fuerza. —Refrán español

A HUMBLE KING Like a tonal center in music, the note to which we keep returning in today’s readings is humility. We wait in joyful expecta on for the coming of our Lord as King. But what we are told to expect and rejoice over is a meek and humble king, riding on an donkey. Not horses or chariots of the great and mighty, but a humble beast carries the Ruler whose dominion stretches “from the River to the ends of the earth” (Zechariah 9:10). This King comes to banish the tools of the warrior and bring peace. No wonder that a weary world rejoices and gives thanks to God! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

YON WA KI GEN IMILITE Tankou jan yo dil lan, nòt mizik kap pede retounen nan yon chante, nan lek jodi a se imilite. Copyright © St. James

THE CALL TO STEWARDSHIP ““For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” - MATTHEW 11:30

When we think of being good stewards, we may think that God is asking too much of us when He calls us to generously share our

me, talent and treasure. However, we must remember that we are not “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gi s God has given us. All He is asking is that we give back a small por on of what He has already given to us.

A little talk with Jesus… Speak Lord, Your servant is listening...

My wisdom is not to be wasted in the minds of the proud. It is a very delicate, yet power-ful gift that I give to the humble, yes to the little ones of my kingdom. Who can be little but the wise man that follows the words of John the Baptist,“ I must de-crease so that the Lord may increase.” And how can you decrease unless you empty your-self of your self-love and your egoism? I am here to teach you my child. What really matters is not what you think of yourself, but what I think of you. Your self-opinion is full of pride and arrogance, because you always think of yourself as being better than others. In the spiritual life, no one must claim credit for anything at all. If you really give yourself to me, it will not be you yourself acting and working in my kingdom, it will be I myself acting through you and directing your life and your work for the Glory of God. Therefore you will be deprived of your credit since all credit must be given to the one guiding you. However this is the part that humbles you and makes you little, when you can give all the power, the honor and the glory to the Lord your God and when you deprive yourself of honor and material rewards here, to start making your treasure in heaven. In order to know me, you must know yourself first. You must understand that you are a sinner and depend totally on my mercy and grace. You must descend into your nothing-ness in order to perceive the heights of my being. You must see very clearly your own darkness in order to be able to see my light. You must become a nothing so that I can make you something, because when you think you are something I think of you as a noth-ing. The spiritual life is like when you are climbing a ladder, the higher you are, the more dangerous will be your fall, and unless you remain humble and let me help you to ascend, you will always remain down. Come to me accepting that you are heavily burdened, this way I can help you and give you rest. Do not be over confident about your self; choose to work for your salvation with fear and trembling as Saint Paul advises you. Salvation is not something that you can accomplish by yourself; it is my work for you. So come humbly before me your Lord and Savior, let me work in your life, let me take you by the hand and guide you, let me be your company, until you find your self in my eternal presence.

PARKING LOT CHARITY AND COURTESY

Please be mindful when parking your car

There is always plenty of parking available around the church and under the bridge.

“Fire Lanes” are exactly THAT. There are lanes to be left open for an emergency for Fire or Emergen-

cy vehicles. Fire lanes are not parking lanes. Cars parked in a fire lane can be towed according to

code. We have not enforced this hoping for com-mon sense and courtesy. However, we may have to

do this for emergency safety sake. Please park un-der the bridge when the regular parking places

around the church are all taken up.

Thank you for your charity and for your courte-sy in this very important matter.
