educational, and behavioral needs. She is caring and
compassionate towards the most challenging of students. Marcy is
quick to listen and quick to support all of her students. She’s
teaching her students kindness, patience, and such dedication.
These tiny people’s lives will be impacted in such a positive way
making this world a better place.
EVERY DAY MATTERS Did you know there’s a really close connection between school
attendance and student success? Students who are chronically
absent (that means they miss 10 percent of the year for excused
or unexcused reasons) are much more likely to struggle in school
and even have more trouble graduating. It makes sense because
every day builds on the one before, making it easy to fall behind.

child’s attendance at

St. Helens Recreation Program Reduces After School Program Fees
The St. Helens Recreation Program will reduce its fees for its After School Programstarting December 1 in part thanks to two grants that were recently awarded to the Cityof St. Helens from the Ford Family Foundation and the Columbia Pacific Coordinated
Care Organization.
The After School Program is hosted at Lewis and Clark Elementary School and providesafter school care for children enrolled in the St. Helens School District in kindergartenthrough sixth grade. Bus service is also available for students of McBride Elementary
School who need transportation to Lewis and Clark to attend the program. Moreinformation about the program is available on the City of St. Helens website at
www.ci.st-helens.or.us/recreation/page/sharp-st-helens-after-school-recreation-program.
Beginning December 1 through June 2018, the After School Program will be availablefor a monthly rate of $225 per child. This reduces the regular rate from $20 per day to alittle over $14 per day. To receive the discount, parents or guardians must pay the full
monthly fee by the first of each month.
