Trail Boss Report Well gang, I guess we can't complain about February! After such a miserable start to the season, the Snow Gods have shined on us. The crew has been working nightly and the results really show. After all my years of grooming, I be-lieve our trails are in as good of shape as possible. Our ma-chines are performing well and the snow keeps coming with the cold to keep it here. I hope we get some great late season riding. Please remember to thank your drivers for their hard work. It is greatly appreciated! Our court case is fast approaching—we will have news for you next month. Elections are this month so please take time to either make the meeting or send for an absentee ballot. We need energetic people on the board with the best interests of the club at heart. I look forward to seeing you at Pub ’n Prime for the next meeting. Happy Trails, Jim Wendt

From the Secretary's desk…. It’s that time of year again! The election of club officers and directors will be held at our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 12th at Pub ‘n Prime. Only members who have paid

their dues by the AWSC membership deadline of February 28th are eligible to vote; one vote for single membership and two votes for family. The Teller Committee will have a roster of eligible members at the meeting. Members who cannot attend can request an absentee ballot by regular mail or email (PO Box 192; St. Germain, WI 54558 or [email protected]) from me before 4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 5th. Board members will review and propose budget items at their Board Meeting on March 5th. Refinement of the prelimi-nary budget will occur at the April Board Meeting, with the board voting on the final budget at their meeting in May. With that being said, I am signing off as your club secretary. It has been a great few years but a girl can only donate just so many hours a day to community organizations and something has to go. This is see you later and not good-bye. See you on the trails! Pam Gebhardt

President’s Report I have been out on our trails riding nearly everyday. All I can say is that our trails are the best to ride in the last few years. To all our members remember that our elections are next month and you can send your vote by proxy until the 5th of March. We work the club for you so your vote is important to the club. Thanks goes to all who helped us at the Radar Races in early February. Our club did very well raising nearly $3,500. To all the members who helped set up and tear down the tents and equipment Thank You. After that race we then set up for the groomer show again thank you to all our members. All we need the rest of this season is the continuing of cold and snow and we will have a year like we have not seen in years. Keep on coming up for a great time here on the Bo-Boen trails. Al Clemmensen

Congratulations to Twilight Bar & Grill owners, Steve Pulec and Sheila Boland on your wedding this

past weekend!

Candidate Statements Al Clemmensen—President I am again running for the President position. So if you like what I have done this past year vote for me. President-Elect—Tom Christensen My name is Tom Christensen and I am running for President-Elect. Our family moved to St. Germain in 1996 and opened up St. Germain Sport Marine. I have served on the Bo-Boen Board as Secretary, President-Elect, President and Past-President. I enjoy working with everyone on the Board and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.

Ed Siergiej—Treasurer I have again accepted the nomination to run another year as your club treasurer. Looking forward to working with the other elected officers and directors keeping our club the largest with the best trails in the state. On a side note, I will be running for the Town Clerk position here in St. Ger-main at the spring election on April 2. If you are a St. Ger-main resident I would like to ask for your support and vote. It is time for someone new and the taxpayers should not have a town official that attacks part of our economic base, "snowmobiling". Kay Schultz—Secretary I have been coming to St. Germain all of my life. My par-ents and I went to Lake Content Resort before building our Found Lake home in 1976. Now Gary & I have lived here permanently since our retirement in 2008. Therefore, over the last 58 years, I have seen how snowmobiling has helped build our town into what it is today. Those who know me, know that I don’t snowmobile—but—I will be the last per-son standing to defend everybody’s right to do it.

Bob ‘Ozzie’ Ausloos—Director I have been snowmobiling since the very early 1970’s. I became active in snowmobile clubs in the mid 80’s by hold-ing a variety of offices from being a director through the treasurer’s position, and finally being president. My job became more demanding and I could no longer find the time to be an officer, but we continued to volunteer at fund raisers etc. We purchased a cottage in St Germain in 1998 and joined the Bo-Boen club at that time. Peg and I have been members of two clubs for most of our snowmo-biling career. Anyone can join a club, but to really be-long, you must be active. I am recently retired and feel that I can now afford more time to the Bo-Boen snowmo-bile club. I am asking for your vote as a director.

John Burger—Director Statement not received

Timm Faesi—Director Briefly about myself, I am 48 years old and the father of two daughters 20 and 22 who live in Virginia. I presently live in Arbor Vitae where I work as the Service Manager at Northern Lights Harley Davidson. My family has a three-season cabin on Lost lake on the south shore and my grandparents owned a three-season cabin in Sunset Bay

of Lost Lake that was purchased in the early fifties. I grew up spending every vacation during the summer and some winters up north in this area of St. Germain. I retired here because of the location and the way of life as well as the people. This is also the reason I joined this club. I enlisted in the Navy at 18 and served 4 years. After my ser-vice I began my law enforcement career first as a deputy sheriff and then as a police officer. In 2008 I retired and be-came self employed as a consultant to attorney’s. I began calling the Northwoods home in 2011 and soon began to enjoy the recreational activities of this vast area of the outdoors. One of my loves is my motorcycle but now living here instead of Virginia I have the opportunity to turn back to one of the things I loved as a kid, snowmobiling. As a police officer I be-came involved with many organizations and coordinating fund-raising events. I am a lifetime member of the Masons and the Shiners'. I feel that as a younger member of this club I have a lot to offer in the way of new and innovative ideas to help this club who is known for it’s longevity and a leader in the way of snowmobilers rights and safety. I would love to be given this chance to prove to you that I can do a lot of good for the club. ** Timm has volunteered to become our newsletter editor starting this fall. Tim Gebhardt—Director One Gebhardt steps off the board, another seeks your vote! A little about myself. I grew up in Wausau, WI in a snowmobiling family. My grandfather actually built a snow machine that we used for ice fishing and at the hunting shack years before snowmobiles were created. After high school I enlisted in the Army and after 3 years of active duty I attended OCS and received my commission as an officer and served an additional 8 years with the National Guard. During that time I attended DeVry University earning a degree in electronics which brought me back home to Wausau where I worked at Northway Communications and was instru-mental in setting up 911 centers in the Northwoods. It was during that time that I met and married the love of my life, Pam and we made our home in St. Germain where we have raised our sons, Jacob and Nathan. We are truly an outdoors family and love hunting, fishing and snowmobiling! Once in St. Germain I became involved with the Fire Depart-ment and hold the title of Assistant Chief. I am self employed and sell after-market agriculture parts for all makes and mod-els and travel the entire state of Wisconsin. During Pam’s time on the board I became more involved in the Club and began attending Board meetings so I have an aware-ness of the issues facing the club. I also was instrumental in getting the Intersection numbers on the trails. After having a buddy crash on the trails in Sawyer county on 4-wheeler and the hunters that found him used the Intersection numbers to aide in his rescue I know their life saving importance. They have also been instrumental for our fire department in aiding in the rescue following snowmobile accidents in our commu-nity. I have also been a groomer driver for many years and have worked various fundraising activities for the club. I am very involved in the community and feel that my strengths in com-munity involvement would be beneficial for continued growth of the club and would appreciate your vote.

Candidate Statements continued…. Ron Rhodes—Director Hi, Ron Rhodes here looking for your vote for the position of board of director. For those of you that don't know me, I have served on the snowmobile board in many and all positions. From president to my first position of sergeant at arms way back in 1988. I have been in snowmobiling since 1965, and have been ac-tive ever since. I am also a snowmobile safety instructor since 1972, right after the State of Wisconsin DNR started the safety program. I have taught safety classes every year since. I also am a safety instructor for boating and ATV. I be-lieve in the safety program and think that it will save a lot of lives. As for your vote, I will continue to do the best for the club, just as I have in the past. I do be leave that the club is headed in the right direction and in some small way I like to think that I had something to do with it. If you feel the same as I, then I would be honored to serve another term on the board. I thank you in advance for your vote, and as always I will do my best for the good of the club. Todd Wiese—Director I’m not new to snowmobiling. My wife Wanda and I grew up in Lac Du Flambeau where we began sledding in 1964, when machines were 8 hp and speeds up to 25mph. We made our own trails and rode railroad tracks and roads since there were few laws back then. After graduation from Lakeland high school, I went on to college at UW-Whitewater, where I married my high school sweetheart and brought her to Whitewater with me. We have two children living in Southeastern Wisconsin who are grown with families of their own and are also active in snowmobiling. In 1970 I began a career in law enforcement and was in charge of the snowmobile patrol for the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. As a member of the local Whitewater club and the Sheriff’s snowmobile patrol, I was soon elected as President of the Walworth County Snowmobile Alliance, who’s responsibility was to maintain and groom the trails for all the clubs within the County. After retirement, we moved back “home” and joined the Bo-Boens. I began trail grooming for the club in 2002 and have been an active groomer ever since. Both Wanda and I re-main active in the club by volunteering for trail brushing, radar run food booth, installation of trail fencing in sensi-tive areas, groomer maintenance, map ad sales, map box distribution, groomer show food booth and classic sled roundup food booth. I believe we have an excellent and hard working board and as a board member, I would like your support to keep it that way. Thank you.

Membership Report for Jan 19th—February 21st The Snow-gods have finally blessed us and the trails are full of sleds. We have a grand total of 456 members at this point in the year. And, it appears that I, and the club, will survive my first year as membership chair. Happy sledding to all. Club Ride We FINALLY pulled it off!!! Thirteen riders came thun-dering out of the morning dew. Trailing behind was a Buick and a Ford Edge. Fifteen people had a GREAT breakfast at The Granary in Boulder Junction. The trails were great. The following club members participated in the event: Oz- zie & Peggy Ausloos, Ken & Donna Beno, Joan Crawford, Jim & Sue DuBore, Milt Klingsporn, Mike & Penny McCormick, Judy Schell, Gary & Kay Schultz, and Gary & Geri Shambo. The owners, Lee & Pam Hoffman were prepared for our visit. The sign outside their establishment welcomed the Bo- Boens. Pam had a Hershey's kiss at each place setting. That topped off the great breakfast. In addition to the fine hos-pitality, Pam and Lee made a donation of $50.00 to the club. We thank them for their generosity. The next club ride is scheduled for Thursday, March 14. We are planning on riding to Cross Country for lunch. Re-member, riders as well as non-riders are welcome, We will leave from the barn at 9AM. Please call (715) 542-4074 to RSVP. We hope to see more of you on the 14th! Gary and Geri Shambo

A Thank You to the People That Worked or Supported the …

16th Annual Groomer Show Food Booth & Raffle February 6th and 7th, 2013

The 16th Annual Groomer Show Food Booth was another successful event for the club. Once again, large numbers of club members volunteered their time in support of this event. We even introduced the all new Bo-Boen Chili that was sold out both days. This secret chili formula has been recorded for future use. Thanks to Gary Frank who single handedly managed the raffle another year. Those volunteers who were present for set-up, clean-up and take-down were especially efficient again this year. Thank you to all for your help. If I failed to mention anyone, I apologize:

The 2013 Radar Run Food Tent was another successful fund raiser for the Bo Boen Club. Thank You to the Radar Run folks for allowing us the opportunity for this fund raiser. A special thanks to our Business Supporters: Camp’s Super Value Business Connection Paul’s Rent-All Trig’s St. Germain Sport Marine And an even bigger THANK YOU to the volunteers who braved the below zero temperatures to help us serve food and beverage. Some even enjoyed the cold so much they came back and worked multiple days. Those multiple day volunteers have asterisks behind their names. Bruce Weber's donation of carpeting for our tent made standing on the snow packed ice almost bearable. This event wouldn't have happened without the generous donation of time by all these volunteers: Peggy Ausloos Judie & Chuck Berard Paul Bohnen Becky, Karen & Tony Cantele Al Clemmensen** Joan Crawford Dennis & Dianne Dieter John Gemini Jim Harold** Gary Jacobi** Roger & Carla Klein Tom Marks Julaine Nampel Mike Osborne
