Saint Gabriel the Archangel Saddle River

The Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have removed the reproach of Egypt from you.” After forty years of wan-dering in the desert, this hard-headed people have finally reached the Promised Land. No more do they eat the man-na in the desert, but they partake of the fruits of their new homeland. God has kept the promise to their parents in Egypt. Even though they were a sinful people, many times questioning God and even worshiping false gods, God has forgiven them and fulfilled the promise. The “take-away” for us is that there is no sin that is unforgivable. We may have offended our neighbors, given a bad example to someone, even worshiped the false gods of money and power. But God is a merciful God, true to the words spoken to us. God forgives all and calls us back to love. Peace, Fr. Frank

Plot Summary: Risking his life, Luke ventures to Rome to visit Paul -- the apostle who's bound in chains and held captive in Nero's darkest and bleakest pris-on cell, Mamertine Prison, because he has been deemed a threat to the Roman Empire. At Mamertine, he interacts with his jailer Mauri-tius and Luke the evangelist. Mauritius is curi-ous about Paul and seeks to learn how this one man can have such a profound effect on the empire. Luke, a dutiful caretaker, takes this opportunity to write the Acts of the Apostles, a history of the early Church. Haunted by the shadows of his past misdeeds, Paul wonders if he's been forgotten as he awaits his grisly execution. Much of Paul’s story is told in flashbacks while he is in prison.1 hr. 48 mins. Cast: Jim Caviezel, James Faulkner, Olivier Mar-tinez, Joanne Whalley, John Lynch, Yorgos Karamihos, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Alessandro Sperduti .Director: Andrew Hyatt

THE NEW YOU

Lent is our chance to leave our old ways behind and adopt a new way of life. When Easter comes, what will the new you be like? Be a more positive thinker. This is the keystone habit that will help you form the other important habits. Squash negative think-ing and trust that God will work with you to accomplish goals you set that are in harmony with his will. Focus on what’s important. First identify what is most im-portant to you - family, friends, faith and so on. Then eliminate everything else. Not only will you be free to focus on what is most important, this habit will spill over into other areas of your life such as tasks, projects and communication. Add kindness. Kindness is genuinely caring for others, wanting the best for them, and taking action to demonstrate that caring. Each day, make a decision to add an act of kindness to your day. Let someone go ahead of you in line, give a sincere compliment to a stranger, praise a coworker’s efforts, greet a passerby.

BISHOP BARRON Word on Fire

UNTOLD BLESSING Three Paths to Holiness

Our ultimate goal is to be a saint. It is our greatest calling and what is desired for us by our Creator. BUT HOW DO WE BE-COME A SAINT? Come join us this Lenten Season to see firsthand how Bishop Robert Barron paints a beautiful and mysterious image of what it takes to be a follower of Jesus Christ on this road to sainthood. He lays out three intriguing paths to holiness as well as shares practical approaches to enhance the journey along these three paths:

Finding the center Knowing you’re a sinner

Realizing your life in not about you

MANY THANKS!!! Here are a few of our parishioners and Deacon Jim serving your incredible meal to our guests in Hackensack last Saturday. It is impossible to count all the "thank you" and "God bless you" re-marks we heard as guest after guest returned to the serving station to share their gratitude. In fact at least one diner was heard to say that it was the "most wonderful meal" he'd ever had!! The meal was truly remarkable and it was both made and served with an abundance of love. We are so grateful for your generosity. May God bless you one and all! Our next serving date is coming up soon...........Saturday, May 4th! We will be delighted for your support once again! New-comers are always welcome!! Sincerely, Carol Lee Crowley and Laura Golluscio
