    Thought for

    the Week

    T

he first day of a new year invites

    gratitude and wonder:

gratitude for the gift of life and

another year, wonder at what it

    will contain.

    Dedicating this day

    to the Holy Mother of

    God means we entrust

    ourselves and the new

year to Mary. She is our Mother in grace…

When she gave birth to the Savior,

the Lord willed to ‘let his face shine upon’ us

    through her.

rectory so that we can keep this list current.

  • NEW BOOK BEGINS

    JANUARY 7, 2021!

Start the New Year with author Matthew Kelly as we

    read and discuss his book

    Rediscover the Saints: Twenty-five

Questions That Will Change Your Life.

    Join us Thursday mornings

    at 9am via ZOOM.

To register, or for more info:

    [email protected]

    From the book:

There are two questions that confront

the people of every place and time, questions that

confront you and me today: Are you satisfied with the

direction the world is moving in? Are you satisfied with

    your life?

...Our collective dissatisfaction with the direction of the

world leads to the consensus that the world needs

changing. And yet, we seem gripped by exasperation and

paralyzed by the false belief that we can't do anything

about it. The saints dispel that exasperation and inspire

us to bold action. They remind us over and over again:

    We can change the world.

    New Year Blessing:

Heavenly Father, we thank you for

giving us a new year and the many opportunities

to do Your will. We ask you to especially bless

our parishioners who support our students with

their love, prayers, and generosity. May Your

light shine on their path and bless them

    abundantly. Amen.

We wish you and your family much peace and

joy in the months ahead. God bless you always!

    Happy New Year!

The Virtue of Fortitude: As part of our Virtues

in Practice program, the whole school focuses on

the same virtue as they hope to grow closer to

Jesus by imitating His life and virtues. They also

learn more about the saints who exemplify these

good habits. In January, students and their

families will be learning about the virtue of

fortitude. Please join them by praying for the

children to be brave and strong in the face of

    trials.

  • Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

For the greater glory of God...

    Dear Parish Family,

I pray you had a blessed Christmas with your

family and loved ones! I’d like to highlight two

beautiful feasts and a Solemnity as we continue to

ponder the mystery of the Incarnation:

On Sunday, December 27, we celebrate the

Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and

Joseph. The Holy Family is a great model for all

families in their love for God and each other.

Mary and Joseph teach us how to make Christ

the center of our home. One way to do this is to

have your house blessed each year. It’s also a

good idea to hang up images of the Holy Family

in your home and have them blessed.

On Friday, January 1, we celebrate the

Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, a

Holy Day of Obligation. As we enter this new

year of 2021, we are reminded that we have a

Mother in Heaven who loves us so much and

wants to lead us to her Son and help us with her

prayers. This is a great time to renew our

commitment to pray the rosary every day as

Our Lady asked us to do when she appeared to

the three children at Fatima in 1917.

On Sunday, January 3, we celebrate the Feast

of the Epiphany, one of the oldest Christian

feasts. The word “Epiphany” comes from the

Greek verb meaning “to reveal”. Over the

centuries, it has celebrated various events that

reveal Christ to the world: His birth, the

visitation of the gift-bearing Magi, His baptism

in the Jordan River, and His first miracle in Cana.

The Feast of the Epiphany primarily recalls the

visitation of the Wise Men to the Christ Child,

when His Kingship of all peoples and nations is

    recognized.

    Faithfully in Christ,
