“to see World Mission Sunday as
a special moment to live out the

whole world.” It is a moment each year to provide for
the building up of over one thousand churches in Asia
and Africa, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin
America and Europe, an area that covers more than
half the territory of the globe. Through the work of
these churches, and their witness to Christ, the poor
receive practical help and experience God’s love and
mercy that renews hope and peace.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS):
Last week, our parish school
inducted 23 students into the Linda
Maloney Chapter of the Father
Andrew White. S.J. National Junior
Honor Society. Membership in the
NJHS is one of the highest honors
that can be awarded. The NJHS has worked hard
across the nation in 12,000 junior high chapters
to bring practical meaning to the Society's goals

Prayer for Those Who Await a
Service Member’s Return
God of all goodness,
look with love on those who
await the safe of return of their
loved ones who serve in the armed
forces of their country.
In faith and hope, we turn to you
for comfort.
Grant that we may trust in
your mercy, and send an angel to
sustain us as we await their safe
return.
We ask this through Christ our
Lord. Amen.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
For the greater glory of God...
Dear Parish Family,
This Sunday we have two important occasions
to remember. First, October 7 is traditionally
known as the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Since the feast falls on a Sunday this year, the
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time take precedence.
Our Lady of the Rosary is a revered title of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. Indeed, at Fatima, Mary
told the shepherd children, “I am the Lady of the
Rosary.” It was at Fatima that Our Lady asked
that we pray the rosary daily for the conversion
of sinners. It was formerly known as the Feast of
Our Lady of Victory, to commemorate the
Christian victory over the Ottoman fleet at the
Battle of Lepanto in 1571. In 1960, Pope St. John
XXIII changed it to Our Lady of the Rosary.
This Sunday, October 7, is also Respect Life
Sunday. This Sunday, and every day, let us pray
for greater respect for all human life, from
conception until natural death.
Prayer for Respect of Life
Heavenly Father, the beauty and dignity of human life
was the crowning of your creation. You further
ennobled that life when your Son became one with us
in his incarnation. Help us to realize the sacredness of
human life and to respect it from the moment of
conception until the last moment at death. Give us
courage to speak with truth and love and with
conviction in defense of life. Help us to extend the
gentle hand of mercy and forgiveness to those who do
not reverence your gift of life. To all, grant pardon for
the times we have failed to be grateful for your precious
gift of life or to respect it in others.
We ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Peace and blessings,
Fr. Rob
