What do Catholics celebrate in October The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7. According to an account by fifteenth- century Dominican, Alan de la Roch, Mary appeared to St. Dominic in 1206 after he had been praying and doing severe pen- ances because of his lack of success in combating the Albigensian heresy. Mary praised him for his valiant fight against the heretics and then gave him the Rosary as a mighty weapon, explained its uses and efficacy, and told him to preach it to others. "Since the prayers of the Rosary come from such excellent sources from Our Lord Himself, from inspired Scripture, and from the Church it is not surprising that the Rosary is so dear to our Blessed Mother and so powerful with heaven. "If we consider the power of the Rosary as seen in its effects, we find a great abundance of proofs of its wonderful value. Many are the favors granted to private individuals through its devout recitation: there are few devoted users of the Rosary who cannot testify to experiencing its power in their own lives. The Rosary is Christocentric setting forth the entire life of Jesus Christ, the passion, death, resurrection and glory. Of course, the Rosary honors and contemplates Mary too, and rightly so, for the same reason that the Liturgical Year does likewise: "Because of the mission she received from God, her life is most closely linked with the mysteries of Jesus Christ, and there is no one who has followed in the footsteps of the Incarnate Word more closely and with more merit than she". Meditation on this cycle of Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries makes the Rosary not only "a brev- iary or summary of the Gospel and of Christian life," but also a compendium of the Liturgical Year. Lets pray this month, the devotion of the Holy Rosary asking our Blessed Mother to intercedes before her Son to seek unity, peace and love in our hearts, that all the faithful become instrument of Gods mercy to one another. Father Carlos’s Reflection on the

Gospel-In today’s Gospel, the Lord uses a beautiful images to compare how the kingdom of heaven looks like, “A banquet”. In the parable,

Jesus said that “The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son.” The story falls in two parts, the invitation of the king and the reaction of them not to come to the banquet feast. We have the invitation to the wed-ding feast; in fact, we are already in the banquet hall, since our baptism; but are we wearing the wedding garment of virtue and grace? If not, we are no better off than those who rejected the invita-tion. Being a member of the Church on earth is a wonderful privilege, and sure guarantee that we will reach heaven, if we do what is expected of us. The world with its allurements is very close to us; heaven seems very far away. How the Gospel pas-sage would inspire you to be part of the wedding feast? How often have you refused the Lord’s invi-tation to his banquet? How important is it for you and your family to be invited to the Holy banquet, the Eucharist to eat and drink with our Lord Jesus Christ? As a guest and faithful servant, let’s pray to the Lord to prepare us to participate at his banquet with an appropriate garments and heart to honor Christ and be his friends. Let’s pray for our community and families to pre-pare us to celebrate with joy and happiness, the Eu-charist. As we pray: May your grace, O Lord, we pray, at all times go before us and follow after and make us always determined to carry out good

works. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
