27th Sunday in Ordinary T ime: October 8
That we are not afraid of living our Faith because of fear of being “rejected” by others.
“The stone the builders rejected has become the corner stone...” (Matthew 21:42)
Jesus was the corner stone and He was rejected by the religious and political leaders of His day, as well as ordinary citizens. Living a stewardship lifestyle may cause you to be
“rejected” by others in today’s society. For example, saying grace before a meal in a restaurant may attract
some strange looks from some. But to others it is a sign that God is alive and well!

Are you good at talking to people and organizing events? We have a wonderful opportunity for you to serve your parish family. We need people to volunteer as chair and co-chair for our Bazaar on May 5, 2018. It requires a good amount of time mainly from January to May but you will have a lot of support from the office staff. There is a pattern in place and lots of wisdom from past chairs for how to accomplish the task. It involves soliciting sponsors and auction items, and coordinating booths and raffle ticket sales. It is a lot of fun and God will greatly bless you for your sacrifice. Please prayerfully consider volunteering and call Father Joseph at the office at 713-774-7475.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
ROSARY MAKERS
The Rosary Makers meet the second Wednesday
of each month at 9:30 am in the St. John meeting
room in the Family Life Center .
The next meeting is scheduled for
October 11, 2017.
All are welcome to join us.
On September 27, the Church celebrated the feast of
St. Vincent de Paul, who knew that “God had sent
him to bring good news to the poor.” Together with
your gifts, the members of the Society of St. Vincent
de Paul continue his work and mission in our parish.
The parish emergency food pantry is running low on some items.
Not only does this pantry supply much needed items for
individuals living within our parish community but is shared with
our sister parish Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Please
consider dropping one or more items into the baskets located in the
narthex area, right after you enter the doors of the church. Items
needed are: meal-type soups, stew, chili, canned meats, tuna,
macaroni & cheese, canned pasta like spaghetti meatballs,
ravioli & spaghetti franks, crackers, jelly, cookies, rice, ramen,
pasta sauce, juice, cereal, canned or boxed milk, shampoo,
conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant. The pantry is
small and at this time doesn’t need canned beans, fruits or
vegetables. Thank you.
We are still looking for a few more of our parish children to join our parish school family. Education wrapped in faith, family and prayer is the best gift you can give to your child and his or her future. It’s not too late! All grade levels are available. Call Stephen Klein at 713-774-4447 or come by for a tour.
