Summer Help Needed!

Calling all friendly faces, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors,

Acolytes and altar servers. We know summertime is busy for

you and it is hard to know what Mass you will be at on any

given weekend. We want to ask you, when you DO come to

St Francis for Sunday Mass, please check in with Willie to

see if your help is needed in any ministry for that particular

Mass. Thanks so much.

We are looking for your input!

The Cardinal, in consultation with Archdiocesan process

known as “Making All Things New” has asked that par-

ish clusters look at their weekend Mass schedules as a

whole. In looking at Mass times and trying to stagger

them so anyone can find a reasonably convenient Mass

on a Sunday we noticed that while several churches had

later evening masses, no one had one at the traditional

“5:00 p.m.” time slot. Since St Francis has a 5pm Sat

evening Mass, we were wondering if it wouldn’t be sim-

pler to make our Sunday evening Mass at 5pm as well.

We could serve a need in the community for an earlier

Sunday evening Mass and wouldn’t have to work so

hard to remember which night was 5pm and which was

6pm. You may recall we began this conversation with

you back in the springtime. So far we’ve had positive

feedback from you. Please, if you haven’t yet had a

chance--tell us what you think. Sunday Mass at 5pm?

Yes? No? You’re OK either way?

Are you Thinking about Becoming Catholic?

We have a process for welcoming and initiating folks

into our Catholic Faith called “The Rite of Christian

Initiation for Adults” We meet weekly on Monday

evenings at 7pm to discuss topics of faith and answer

your questions. It is designed to be a gradual process

of formation. If you’d like more information please

talk with Fr Kelly or Jayne Porcelli. WE WILL NOT

BE MEETING IN AUGUST, to allow time for all to

enjoy a bit of vacation. Our Monday evenings will

begin again right after Labor Day on Monday Septem-

ber 12. See you then!

What’s in YOUR Wallet?

(Can you hear Samuel L Jackson’s voice? Or Jen-

nifer Gardiner’s? Imagine it’s God’s voice!!)

No really, we want to know! Do you still have

that fuzzy life saver in there? A bit of spare change? A

receipt from Starbucks? Your metro card! Your phone?

And how is any of that going to help when it’s time for

the collection at Mass? You know it’s really called THE

PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS for a reason!! This is

the time when we offer our financial gift in support of

the parish…and that fuzzy life saver just won’t cut it!

You can, however, use your smartphone right now to

sign up for Parish Pay and set up a recurring gift to be

sent to the parish each week. This way, even when

you’re away for the weekend visiting family and friends,

you still are an important part of that presentation-by

your sustaining weekly gift to St Francis de Sales.

Vamos a compartir nuestra alegría

bien desgracias y pecados, podemos todavía perseve-

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
